The story of how Melania met Donald Trump is well-documented and has never seriously been called into question.
That changed recently, when the Daily Beast printed a hit piece trying to link Mrs. Trump to Jeffrey Epstein, with the implication that she was part of his human trafficking scheme.
Melania did not take kindly to the report, and she just crushed the Daily Beast, forcing a retraction of the story.
How I met Donald
Melania met Donald Trump at a party in 1988, while the future president was actually with someone else.
She caught Trump’s eye, and he gave Melania his number, although she was rather cautious of him in the beginning.
However, in her memoir, Melania noted that they had a strong connection from the very start, and she especially liked the way Trump tuned out the noise around them to make her the center of his attention.
From there, as they say, the rest is history… notice not a single mention of Epstein.
Epstein and Melania
Michael Wolff, a contributor for the Daily Beast, claimed that Melania was introduced to Trump by Paolo Zampolli, who had founded ID Models, the firm that allegedly helped the future first lady relocate to the United States.
Wolff claimed, “She’s introduced by a model agent, both of whom Trump and Epstein are involved with. Epstein knew her well. She’s introduced to Trump that way. Epstein [knew] her well.”
Epstein reportedly talked to Wolff at length about Trump. The president has been very open about how long he knew Epstein and what led to their eventual falling out.
At no time ever can I remember Donald or Melania Trump hinting that Epstein had anything to do with their meeting.
Pull the story
Considering the salacious nature of the piece, one would think that the Daily Beast would have vetted the story before publishing, but that does not appear to be the case.
When the story went live, Melania went ballistic, immediately pushing back, which resulted in a retraction of the story. The publication posted, “Editor’s Note. After this story was published, The Beast received a letter from First Lady Melania Trump’s attorney challenging the headline and framing of the article.”
The note added, “After reviewing the matter, the Beast has taken down the article and apologizes for any confusion or misunderstanding.”
But, as usual, the damage has already been done. Numerous outlets had latched on to the story before the retraction occurred, and some ran with it, treating the first lady like a prostitute. And this is why most people do not trust the mainstream media today.
