The Planned Parenthood abortion business recently announced that it would be shutting down a center in Evansville, Indiana. Now, pro-life advocates in southern Indiana are celebrating the news.
As LifeNews reported, Planned Parenthood’s Evansville, Indiana center, a facility long targeted by pro-life advocates, will permanently close its doors to in-person appointments on September 4.
The closure, announced by Planned Parenthood Great Northwest, Hawai’i, Alaska, Indiana, Kentucky (PPGNHAIK), comes amid what the abortion organization describes as mounting financial and political pressures. The decision to shutter the clinic at 125 N. Weinbach Ave. follows years of advocacy from groups like Right to Life of Southwest Indiana, which celebrated the closure as a triumph for their cause.
Dr. Jeff Ferguson of Right to Life of Southwest Indiana told LifeNews.com that the decision came as a direct result of the Dobbs decision that allowed Indiana to ban abortions and protect women and unborn children.
“The Planned Parenthood in Evansville will close its doors permanently on September 4, 2025. According to a press release from Planned Parenthood Great Northwest, Hawaii, Alaska, Indiana, Kentucky, this closure comes as a direct result of the Dobbs Decision and what they label as attacks on reproductive healthcare,” Ferguson explained.
“Right to Life of Southwest Indiana is thankful for the work that both state legislators and U.S. Senators and Representatives have done over the past several years to uphold the sanctity of life,” he continued. “The organization is also thankful for legislators’ most recent efforts in the passing of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act which officially defunded Planned Parenthood. This piece of legislation was quite possibly the last blow to an already crumbling industry that has been taking innocent lives for years. The Planned Parenthood in Evansville was one of four such clinics in the state when it opened in 1937.”
“The ministry of Right to Life of Southwest Indiana also expresses gratitude to the many who have committed to engaging in prayer over the past number of years, including praying right outside of Planned Parenthood’s doors through 40 Days For Life. The fight for life is a spiritual battle, and the closing of this facility shows the power of prayer,” he concluded.

Planned Parenthood officials cited “rising costs, low reimbursement rates, the lasting effects of COVID-19, the aftermath of the Dobbs decision, and targeted attacks on reproductive health care” as reasons for the closure.
“This decision was not made lightly and reflects a careful evaluation of patient needs, access to care, and the challenges facing sexual and reproductive health care today,” the abortion organization said in a statement.
With the closing, the abortion giant has closed facilities in California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Texas, Utah and Vermont this year — 33 total among those states.
