Republican Texas State Sen. Angela Paxton, the wife of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, has just filed for divorce.
This comes, according to the New York Post, after the two had been married for 38 years.
It also comes amid allegations that Ken Paxton cheated on his wife.

“On biblical grounds”
Angela Paxton, in a social media post, revealed that she has filed for divorce from her husband “on biblical grounds.”
“Today, after 38 years of marriage, I filed for divorce on biblical grounds,” she wrote.
The state senator continued:
I believe marriage is a sacred covenant and I have earnestly pursued reconciliation. But in light of recent discoveries, I do not believe that it honors God or is loving to myself, my children, or Ken to remain in the marriage.
Note that Angela Paxton does not, in her message, make any mention of the cheating allegations.
She concluded:
I move forward with complete confidence that God is always working everything together for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose.
“Countless political attacks”
Ken Paxton has released a statement of his own, claiming that the divorce decision was mutual.
He wrote:
After facing the pressures of countless political attacks and public scrutiny, Angela and I have decided to start a new chapter in our lives. I could not be any more proud or grateful for the incredible family that God has blessed us with, and I remain committed to supporting our amazing children and grandchildren. I ask for your prayers and privacy at this time.
The New York Post explains that, “Back in 2023, Ken Paxton was thrust into the national spotlight after being impeached over accusations that he gave favorable treatment to a political donor and helped an alleged mistress, Laura Olson.”
Paxton did manage to achieve an acquittal in his impeachment trial, but only just.
Ken Paxton has remained the attorney general of Texas, and he is now running as a MAGA-aligned candidate for the U.S. Senate, looking to oust the not-so-MAGA-friendly U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX). Paxton does, according to recent polling, have a significant advantage currently over Cornyn.
