July 9 2025 QUEENS, New York – Pro-Palestinian protesters rallied at JFK Airport’s AirTrain Jamaica Station on Tuesday, prompting travel disruptions and clashes with passersby. Demonstrators gathered in response to claims that the U.S. is shipping over 22,000 pounds of weapons to Israel, with a shipment allegedly set to depart from JFK around 2 p.m., according to activists on the ground.
Chants of “Shut it down!” and “Globalize the Intifada!” echoed through the transit hub as protesters attempted to board the LIRR platform next to the JFK AirTrain. They were asked to purchase tickets but denied access after doing so, leading them to stage their protest outside the entrance at Jamaica Queens station.
JFK Airport officials issued a travel advisory, warning of delays and restricting AirTrain access to ticketed passengers, employees, and individuals with valid business at the airport. Travelers were urged to arrive early and prepare for potential delays.
Flyers circulating online ahead of the protest called for “autonomous actions,” and the situation grew tense when a passerby confronted protesters, demanding that one remove their face covering.
