Minnesota police arrested a man on Monday, a week after his missing 16-year-old son’s body was found at a landfill.
According to KSTP, Jordan Collins Sr., 38, was booked into jail on suspicion of second-degree murder in the death of Jordan Collins Jr., 16. Collins Jr. was reportedly staying with his father in Columbia Heights when he vanished on May 8.
The teen’s body was discovered at the Elk River Landfill on June 28. Video footage from May 13 — five days after his reported disappearance — suggested his body was put in a Columbia Heights dumpster before ending up in a garbage truck.
Amid his disappearance, authorities said they had reason to believe Collins Jr. was being held against his will. However, they did not mention a motive.
Collins Sr. has not been formally charged as of Tuesday. His son’s cause of death remains undisclosed.
