Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has just accused a Washington Post reporter of “actively harassing” members of her staff.
Gabbard, according to Fox News, made the claim on Thursday.
Here’s what she wrote:
It has come to my attention that Washington Post reporter @nakashimae appears to be actively harassing ODNI staff. Instead of reaching out to my press office, she is calling high level Intelligence Officers from a burner phone, refusing to identify herself, lying about the fact…

“A clear political op”
Gabbard leveled the charges at the Post’s Ellen Nakashima.
The secretary wrote:
It has come to my attention that Washington Post reporter @nakashimae appears to be actively harassing ODNI staff. Instead of reaching out to my press office, she is calling high level Intelligence Officers from a burner phone, refusing to identify herself, lying about the fact that she works for the Washington Post, and then demanding they share sensitive information.
Gabbard went on to call this “a clear political op.”
She continued:
Apparently, publishing leaked classified material wasn’t enough for the Washington Post, so now they’ve decided to go after the Intelligence professionals charged to protect it. This is a clear political op by the same outlet and the same reporter who harassed and stalked my family in Hawaii.
Gabbard concluded by alleging that the motivation here for Nakashima and the Post is “to sabotage” President Donald Trump.
“Fair-minded”??
The Post has already responded with a statement coming to the defense of Nakashima.
Post executive editor Matt Murray wrote:
For three decades, Ellen Nakashima has been one of the most careful, fair-minded, and highly regarded reporters covering national security. Reaching out to potential sources rather than relying solely on official government press statements regarding matters of public interest is neither nefarious nor is it harassment. It is basic journalism.
That’s right. Apparently, Nakashima was just doing “basic journalism.
Murray went on to try to flip the script against Gabbard. The Hill reports:
Murray called Gabbard’s attack “unfounded” and “personal” saying it “reflects a fundamental misunderstanding about the role of journalists to report on government officials and hold power to account, without fear or favor and regardless of party.”
What else, of course, would you expect from the likes of the Washington Post. It has, over the years, established itself as one of the Democratic Party’s top propaganda machines, targeting Trump and his administration at every opportunity that it gets.
