President Donald Trump told the Daily Caller Thursday that he is “very satisfied” with the FBI’s investigation into the assassination attempt against him that occurred in Butler, Pennsylvania. This is the first time he has publicly indicated full confidence in the investigation.
Trump’s comments, made directly to Daily Caller White House Correspondent Reagan Reese, follow months of public skepticism about the official explanation. This is the first time he has publicly indicated full confidence in the investigation. In an earlier interview with Fox News, Trump said that while he trusted his team, aspects of the case seemed “a little bit strange.”
“I’m relying on my people to tell me what it is … The Secret Service, they tell me it’s fine. But it’s a little hard to believe,” Trump said at the time.
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said in March in a Fox News interview, “In some of these cases, the ‘there’ you’re looking for is not there. And I know people — I get it, I understand. It’s not there. If it was there, we would have told you.”
