Hey Party Watchers,
It’s time to pull back the curtain on a man who’s made playing the victim his full-time job in Idaho’s political soap opera. Brian Almon, from the lofty perch of his personal Gem State Chronicle Substack, wants you to believe he’s the underdog in some grand battle against a shadowy cabal of political gatekeepers. Almon, formerly known by the oh-so-subtle pseudonym Brian the White, recently took to his keyboard to publish an article titled “Against Gatekeepers,” where he whined about being unfairly attacked.
He boldly claims that a small group is deciding who gets to speak and who gets shut out, positioning himself as the scrappy hero offering an “independent voice” to Idaho conservatives. But let’s not kid ourselves; Brian isn’t the victim here. In reality, he’s the guy holding the megaphone, crafting a great deal of Idaho’s political narrative while crying about being silenced. If this is what gatekeeping looks like, Brian’s not just standing at the gate; he’s building the fence, handing out the keys, and deciding who’s allowed to knock.
But here’s the kicker: while Brian paints himself as the poor, misunderstood underdog, what he conveniently forgets to mention is his cozy network of questionable affiliations, shadowy funding sources, and alliances with some of the most controversial figures and organizations in Idaho.
Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with the receipts.
Who Is Brian Almon?
Goldcroft Advisors
First on the list of Almon’s greatest hits: he’s a paid puppet for the Idaho GOP under Dorothy Moon’s leadership. And by “paid,” we mean over $10,000 between October 2023 and May 2025. That’s not small potatoes, folks. But here’s the fun part: this payment is cleverly disguised under the business name Almon Consulting and funded through the Federal Election Commission (FEC) Account, which is a sneaky little move designed to keep it off the radar. Transparency? Never heard of her.
Idaho Freedom Foundation and Idaho Freedom Caucus
Before the Idaho Freedom Caucus split into its current factions, Almon was secretly (and poorly) writing for the national organization under the guidance of Maria Nate, Idaho GOP Secretary. And let’s just say Maria wasn’t exactly a fan of his work. In the infamous secret recording at the capitol, Maria complained about having to rewrite all of Brian’s blog posts herself because his writing was…how do we put this delicately?…trash.
So now, Brian has continued moonlighting as a propagandist for the Idaho Freedom Caucus (IDFC), operating under the name Goldcroft Advisors. Yes, two jobs, one goal: making sure Idaho’s political discourse is as divisive and extreme as humanly possible. Bravo, Brian.
But hey, every divorce has its winners and losers, and the Idaho Freedom Caucus ended up stuck with Brian.
Meanwhile, he was also cozying up to the Idaho Freedom Foundation (IFF), adding yet another extremist group to his résumé. At this point, we’re starting to wonder if he has a punch card for far-right organizations.
Action Idaho
And then there’s Action Idaho, Brian’s pet project and Idaho’s very own propaganda outlet. Here’s the backstory:
-
In May 2021, Scott Yenor, a far-right academic with a penchant for stirring the pot, decided Idaho needed a media outlet to combat the establishment. Because clearly, what Idaho had been missing was more conspiracy theories and inflammatory rhetoric.
-
In August 2021, Yenor filed articles of incorporation for this media outlet. Interesting side note, the co-incorporators are Theo Wold and Josh Turnbow.
-
In November 2022, Yenor and crew offered the position of head writer to known anti-semite/ white supremacist Pedro Gonzalez. He’s a real peach. We aren’t sure why, but Yenor later confirmed that Gonzalez didn’t accept the position.
-
In mid-December 2022, the Action Idaho domain was registered.
-
By January 2022, Brian, who was relatively unknown at the time, decided to scrub his online past by deleting over 20,000 tweets from his Twitter account under the alias Brian the White. (We know, and it’s as bad as it sounds.)
-
February 2, 2022, Hosting for Action Idaho was switched to WIX, and the first article published featured Brian Almon. Insiders, like the watchdog group “Redoubt Antifascists,” claim Brian Almon continued to be the head writer for Action Idaho as long as it was published.
Who Else Is Almon Connected To?
Let’s take a quick tour through Brian’s illustrious network of extremism:
VDARE
Almon’s ties to VDARE, a hub for racist and anti-immigrant rhetoric, are well-documented. This organization, founded by Peter Brimelow (give him a Google. He sucks.), thrives on divisive ideologies about America’s “racial and cultural identity.”
And Brian’s ties? Remember how we talked about his deleted tweets? Well, one of those was shouting out to his “old friends”- tagging VDARE. Brian and VDARE? Friends? That checks out.
Remember, this is the guy that Dorothy Moon employs, still.
What Is SACR Idaho?
We told you earlier about Action Idaho, the news outlet created by Scott Yenor, Theo Wold and Josh Turnbow. Well, the creepy reason they needed a media outlet was to push the agenda for The Society for American Civic Renewal (SACR). If you haven’t heard of SACR you might want to sit down, this will shock you. It is a secretive, dystopian all-boys club pulling strings behind the scenes to shape the “future of America.” And what they stand for is pretty wild. Here’s what you need to know about this fringe group:
-
SACR’s public mission statement claims that “America is in a state of crisis,” and their internal documents reveal their plan to create a mini-state within a state composed entirely of Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox Christian men. It’s explicitly patriarchal, demanding that group members assume a dominant role at home, and celebrates the use of force and existence of authority. That doesn’t sound so bad, right?!?!
-
Founding board member Ryan Williams has openly discussed preparing for another Civil War. Yep, they’re not just predicting the end of democracy but they’re actively planning for it.
-
Another founding board member, Charles Heywood, has repeatedly raised the idea that he might serve as a “warlord” at the head of an “armed patronage network.” Dont worry, his armed network will only engage in violence or “… open warfare with the federal government, or some subset or remnant of it.” We are just going to keep smiling and nod along.
-
Internal SACR documents reveal a vision of America dominated by their particular flavor of Christianity, complete with “forceful action” to maintain political and social dominance. Nothing screams freedom like authoritarianism wrapped in a Bible verse.
-
SACR members are incorporated in three different Idaho cities: Boise, Moscow, and Coeur d’Alene. They obvioulsly wanted to make sure they had all of the potential areas covered for their recruitment efforts.
-
Emails from Scott Yenor to his son detail the SACR-Boise recruiting plan, which includes entertaining potential members at Ambrose School in Meridian.
And, of course, Brian Almon was right there in the middle, promoting SACR’s messaging through Action Idaho. We also remember seeing something about Brian Almon and Ambrose School… right, there it is.
Why Does This Matter?
Brian Almon isn’t just some guy with a keyboard and an ego problem; he’s a key player in a coordinated effort to drag Idaho’s political discourse into the far-right abyss. By positioning himself as a victim, Almon is trying to distract from his deep involvement in extremist networks and his role as a paid operative for the Idaho GOP, Action Idaho/ SACR, the Idaho Freedom Foundation, and the Idaho Freedom Caucus.
Let’s talk about the Idaho GOP’s curious decision to keep Brian Almon on the payroll under Dorothy Moon’s leadership. Why, exactly, would Dorothy Moon continue to employ someone like Almon, a man whose pseudonym “Brian the White” and deleted tweets scream “nothing to see here, folks”?
Almon’s ties to extremists and his role in crafting the GOP’s messaging raise serious questions about the party’s direction. Is this the kind of representative voice the Idaho GOP wants? Or, as the old saying goes, do birds of a feather flock together? Dorothy, at some point, you have to ask yourself: Is wrestling with pigs in the mud worth it? Because we all know who ends up enjoying it…and who just ends up dirty.
This isn’t just about politics. This is about the very future of Idaho. If we allow figures like Brian Almon to dominate the narrative, we risk losing the Idaho values that make our state a great place to live.
Cheers,
Party Watch
Accountability is not gatekeeping; it’s transparency
ps. Dorothy, we keep asking questions, but so far, you’re not answering. Why does the Idaho GOP continue to employ someone like Brian Almon?
