A TikTok video is making the rounds this week with a wild claim: that President Trump’s new migrant detention facility, dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz,” includes massive industrial incinerators. Yes, really.
The video, posted by a left-wing TikToker, shows aerial shots of what appear to be standard waste disposal units inside the sprawling detention center in Florida’s Everglades. But that didn’t stop conspiracy theorists from running wild.
“They’re building incinerators at a migrant prison,” the TikToker gasps in the now-viral clip, implying something sinister. The only problem? It’s not true.
According to local officials and construction workers familiar with the site, the equipment seen in the footage is most likely for trash incineration. With Miami-Dade’s landfill over 45 miles away, the on-site units make practical sense—especially when you’re housing 5,000 people in the middle of gator-infested swampland.

The facility, officially known as the Dade-Collier Transition Center, has become the centerpiece of Trump’s plan to enforce immigration law more aggressively. But because it’s deep in the Everglades—surrounded by alligators, snakes, and one road in or out—it’s become a breeding ground for outlandish rumors.
As if the barbed wire, bunk beds, and armed National Guard weren’t enough to scare off would-be escapees, now TikTok is doing its part to turn “Alligator Alcatraz” into the stuff of urban legends.
President Trump, who toured the facility this week, joked about the facility’s location and tough terrain: “I looked outside, and that’s not a place I want to go hiking anytime soon.”
There are more cameras and guards than a Vegas casino, and even memes of gators in ICE hats floating around. But sorry, TikTok—those aren’t death ovens. They’re for trash.
