It would appear that President Donald Trump’s winning streak is about to be extended in the Middle East.
Trump is coming off a remarkable string of victories, and he now appears to be close to another one.
Reports are breaking that Hamas has signaled it is ready to come to the table and accept a ceasefire agreement.
Time to finish this
Trump thought he was close to this win several times, but the deal always fell apart, usually accompanied by another attack by Israel or Hamas.
This time, however, it would appear that Hamas is finally ready to settle this war and move on.
Trump had already put one offer on the table, and while Hamas has not hinted whether it will accept that particular deal, it did say that it is receptive to a ceasefire agreement.
On Tuesday, Trump stated he and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu had agreed on “the necessary conditions to finalize” the ceasefire, which will be for a reported 60 days, with the perception being that a full peace agreement can be worked out during that time.
Hamas official Taher al Nunu stated that his organization is “ready to accept any initiative that clearly leads to the complete end to the war.”
Last week, it was reported that Israel’s defense forces had taken out one of the last senior officials for Hamas, virtually removing the entire leadership tree for the terrorist organization.
The U.S., Qatar, and Egypt have all been working together with Israel and Hamas to get this deal in place.
On this cooperation, Trump stated, “The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring Peace, will deliver this final proposal. I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE.”
Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar agreed that it is time for this war to be ended, stating, “Israel is serious in its will to reach a hostage deal and ceasefire in Gaza.”
He later added, “We have opportunities in front of us. We paid for the new reality in the Middle East with the blood of our soldiers and citizens.”
With this deal and Trump’s new leaf on Syria, it really could be a legacy deal for the president if he gets this peace deal in place.
While I am all for peace, the real benefit is that if true peace breaks out in the Middle East, we can stop pouring so much money into the defense of our allies, such as Israel, in the region.
The amount of money we spend on defending our allies is significant, and if we can start to bank that money, it will go a long way to start paying off this nation’s debt and get that debt clock finally going in the right direction.
