Megyn Kelly didn’t hold back after a surprising verdict in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal trial.
On Wednesday morning’s episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, the former Fox News and NBC anchor blasted the jury’s decision. Combs was found not guilty on three out of five charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering.
He was convicted on two lesser counts—transportation to engage in prostitution.
Kelly reacted to The New York Times’ description of Combs’ courtroom celebration, where he clasped his hands in prayer and pumped his fist. “Yep, that’s exactly the right attitude for Sean Combs,” she said sarcastically. “Who just got away with serious felonies, in my view.”
Kelly, a former attorney, said she believes the jury made a big mistake. “He’s guilty as sin, and this jury just gave him a total free pass,” she said.
She pinned part of the outcome on Combs’ lead attorney, Marc Agnifilo. “They bought Marc Agnifilo’s argument, it appears,” Kelly said.
She noted that Agnifilo had previously defended another sex trafficking case in New York—one where the defendant was found guilty on all counts. “He tried the same thing here, but with a much, much better result,” Kelly remarked.
Despite the convictions on two charges, Kelly said the verdict lets Combs off the hook for the most serious crimes.
