Representative Andy Ogles (R-TN) called for President Donald Trump’s likeness to be added to Mount Rushmore on Thursday.
“Given the scale and scope of President Trump’s recent achievements—particularly the impending enactment of the Big Beautiful Bill, a historic act that will ignite America’s Golden Age—it is essential that we immortalize President Trump’s likeness on Mount Rushmore,” Ogles stated in a letter.
Ogles then compared Trump to several presidents featured on the monument. Comparing Trump to George Washington, Ogles claimed both assumed power for the good of the country, “reshaping the presidency with dynamism, clarity, and purpose.”
Comparing Trump to Thomas Jefferson, Ogles said both “expanded America’s horizons by pursuing new frontiers and breaking away from deep-state tyrants.”
Lastly, comparing Trump to Teddy Roosevelt, Ogles asserted that both “championed the working class against bureaucratic bloat and corporate corruption.”
Ogles did not compare Trump to Abraham Lincoln, the fourth president on the monument.
Ogles further argued that the legacy of Mount Rushmore “cannot remain frozen in stone; it must evolve to reflect the full arc of American history, including its most recent and transformative chapter.”
This proposal is the latest in a series of bold requests by Rep. Ogles. Shortly after President Donald Trump’s inauguration, Ogles proposed a constitutional amendment to allow Trump to run for a third term. This followed the Trump administration’s decision to halt a federal fraud investigation related to his campaign finances.
In late June, Ogles sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi requesting that Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for New York City mayor, be denaturalized and deported.
“Zohran ‘Little Muhammad’ Mamdani is an antisemitic socialist and communist who will destroy the great city of New York. He needs to be DEPORTED, which is why I am calling for him to be subject to denaturalization proceedings,” Ogles wrote in a post on X.
Ogles also filed an amendment to the Senate version of the “Big Beautiful Bill,” proposing that it be replaced entirely with the original House version.
“The Senate’s version of the Big Beautiful Bill guts key Trump provisions—all at the behest of an unelected parliamentarian,” Ogles stated in another post on X.
