During a sit-down interview with Fox News over the weekend, President Donald Trump reacted to the sudden rise of Democratic Socialist and Big Apple mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.
Turns out, Trump isn’t a fan of the “communist.”
“He’s a communist, I think it’s very bad for New York. I don’t know that he’s going to get in, it’s inconceivable that he is,” Trump said. “But he’s a communist, and he’s pure communist. I think he admits it. But I can’t imagine it, but let’s say this, if he does get in I’m going to be president and he is going to have to do the right thing, or they’re not getting any money.”
Trump added, “He’s got to do the right thing. It’s shocking that I would have assumed that. … I used to say we will never have a socialist in this country. No, but we’ll have a communist. I mean, he’s a communist, he gonna be mayor of New York. So I was very surprised when I said, I never heard of him, I don’t know who he is.”
Host Maria Bartiromo also asked who Trump would support in the election against Mamdani, but the POTUS wasn’t ready to officially endorse anyone.
“Well, I don’t want to say that because I have a lot of people, a lot of friends, and I have everybody, so I don’t want to get into that,” Trump said. “I can tell you this, whoever’s mayor of New York is going to have to behave themselves or the federal government is coming down very tough on them financially.”

Meanwhile, Mamdani drew fire last week for proposing higher tax rates for whiter, richer neighborhoods. But the democratic socialist claimed Sunday that his push to burden White taxpayers was not racist, despite his agenda explicitly targeting White-majority areas.
“That is just a description of what we see right now,” Mamdani told NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday. “It’s not driven by race. It’s more of an assessment of what neighborhoods are being under taxed and overtaxed.”
Watch the clip below:
CNN’s in-house GOP strategist Scott Jennings called out Mamdani — and his fellow CNN panelist — for denying the racist element of Mamdani’s tax plan.
“He literally wrote it in a statement, Omar! He literally wrote it down! Are you letting him get off the hook? Why?” an incredulous Jennings asked Jiminez, who responded, “No, I’m saying I am saying that he said that, but not on the basis of race specifically. I’m not saying he didn’t say that.”
“He did say that!” Jennings shot back.

Holy crap — CNN host has @ScottJenningsKY laughing in disbelief as he gaslights that Mamdani doesn’t want to tax white people when Mamdani specifically said he wants to tax white people.
