A first-class relic of Blessed Carlo Acutis will be available for public veneration in the Archdiocese of San Francisco this week, offering local Catholics the opportunity for prayer and reflection with one of the Church’s most beloved contemporary soon-to-be saints.
The relic’s visit to the Archdiocese of San Francisco will span several days and include liturgies, public veneration, and presentations at both St. Pius Church in Redwood City and St. Raphael Church in San Rafael, according to a press release from the archdiocese.Â
Born in 1991, Carlo Acutis gained international attention for his deep devotion to the Eucharist and his early embrace of digital evangelization. He created a website cataloging Eucharistic miracles before dying of leukemia at age 15. Blessed Carlo was beatified in 2020, and as CatholicVote previously reported, the Vatican recently confirmed that he will be canonized Sept. 7.Â
On July 2, St. Pius Catholic Church will host the relic — a piece of Blessed Carlo’s heart — for an evening of prayer and Eucharistic devotion. Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m., followed by public veneration of the relic.Â
The church will also host a Eucharistic Miracles exhibit that evening and again during weekend Masses on July 5 and 6. The display, based on Blessed Carlo’s original compilation, presents documented Eucharistic miracles from Church history and has been shown in parishes around the world.
St. Raphael Catholic Church will host the relic throughout the weekend. On July 5, the day will begin with a healing Mass at 8:30 a.m., followed by veneration of the relic until 3:30 p.m.Â
A brief presentation on Blessed Carlo’s life will precede a period of Eucharistic Adoration and a 5 p.m. Vigil Mass, with veneration continuing afterward until 8 p.m.
On July 6, a presentation at 9 a.m. will precede more veneration and a special Mass celebrated by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone at 11 a.m. The day will conclude with afternoon veneration and a Spanish-language closing Mass at 7 p.m.
