Recording artist Beyoncé suffered a prop malfunction during a recent concert in Houston, which caused fans to circulate the near-disaster on social media.
The incident occurred during her performance of the song “16 Candles.” During this part of the concert, the 43-year-old singer is meant to float over the crowd in a red convertible as she’s singing. But during the show over the weekend, the car tipped dramatically to one side.
“Stop. Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop,” Beyoncé could be heard saying into her mic as the music stopped. Then the car dropped slowly to the stage.
“If ever I fall, I know y’all would catch me,” she told the crowd once she made it safely back on the stage.
The “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer also posted photos of the concert later to her social media, including photos of the incident. “I love you Houston,” she wrote in the caption.
The singer’s Parkwood Entertainment shared a statement on the incident later on as well. “Tonight in Houston, at NRG Stadium, a technical mishap caused the flying car, a prop Beyoncé uses to circle the stadium, and see her fans up close, to tilt. She was quickly lowered and no one was injured. The show continued without incident.”
Last fall, the singer raised eyebrows during Kamala Harris’ presidential bid when she disappointed fans who expected her to perform during a rally. Instead, the 32-time Grammy Award-winner spoke briefly, but didn’t put on a show, which several other artists did to support the Democratic candidate.
