Trading “tough guy” talk found California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) goading border czar Tom Homan to follow through with consequences on officials allegedly committing felonies.
“I don’t give a damn.”
As leftist leaders in the once-Golden State are made to lie in the bed they’ve made with sanctuary and soft-on-crime policies, they continued to play politics over the weekend — even as rioters set cars ablaze and shut down the freeway. With the California National Guard called into federal service by President Donald Trump and Homan threatening possible arrests of elected officials for allegedly impeding law enforcement, Newsom postured, “Come after me, arrest me.”
The remark came during a Sunday interview with MSNBC as the governor bristled at the president placing U.S. Marines on standby after deploying 2,000 National Guard troops to aid local law enforcement in safeguarding a Los Angeles ICE detention facility.
“He’s a tough guy. Why doesn’t he do that? He knows where to find me,” said Newsom to MSNBC’s Jacob Soboroff after being confronted with the possibility of his own arrest. “Lay your hands off four-year-old girls that are trying to get educated. Lay your hands off these people, these poor people who are just trying to live their lives … paying their taxes, been here 10 years.”
“Come after me, arrest me. Let’s just get it over with, tough guy. I don’t give a damn,” added the governor.

The day before, Soboroff spoke with Homan, who reminded, “It’s a felony to knowingly conceal and harbor an illegal alien. It’s a felony to impede law enforcement from doing their job.”
“I have absolutely no respect for this governor,” asserted the border czar. “Criminal aliens are walking in this state every day because of his government policy. I don’t care what the governor thinks of me. I’m not running a popularity contest.”
Despite the role his own policies and actions had in fomenting the fiery clashes with law enforcement, Newsom proceeded to not only blame the president’s actions in seeking to restore national sovereignty, but also demanded that he be let alone to manage the riots.
In a letter directed at Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, he argued that he had not approved the use of the National Guard and claimed “local law enforcement resources are sufficient to maintain order,” despite reports that the police had been spread thin to the point that only priority calls were earning responses.
“I have formally requested the Trump administration rescind their unlawful deployment of troops in Los Angeles county and return them to my command,” captioned Newsom in sharing the letter signed by his Legal Affairs Secretary David Sapp. “We didn’t have a problem until Trump got involved. This is a serious breach of state sovereignty — inflaming tensions while pulling resources from where they’re actually needed. Rescind the order. Return control to California.”

The governor also shared video of Trump telling reporters, “If officials stand in the way of law and order, yeah, they will face charges.”
“These are the acts of a dictator, not a President,” asserted Newsom as he claimed the president was “Inciting and provoking violence,” “Creating mass chaos,” “Militarizing cities,” and “Arresting opponents.”

Trump had his own added commentary on the devolving scene in Los Angeles after three days of violence by people he referred to as “Paid Insurrectionists!”
“Governor Gavin Newscum and ‘Mayor’ Bass should apologize to the people of Los Angeles for the absolutely horrible job that they have done, and this now includes the ongoing L.A. riots. These are not protesters, they are troublemakers and insurrectionists. Remember, NO MASKS!” insisted the president, who called for law enforcement to, “ARREST THE PEOPLE IN FACE MASKS, NOW!”
“Looking really bad in L.A.,” added the commander-in-chief. “BRING IN THE TROOPS!!!”
