RICHARDSON, TX – A former Dallas Cowboys player, now with the DC Defenders in the XFL, has been arrested following a tragic incident that claimed the life of a motorcyclist early Saturday morning. Kelvin Joseph Jr., 25, turned himself in to Richardson police, where he remains in custody without bond, according to jail records.
The accident occurred just before 5 a.m. on the 2400 block of North Central Expressway. Police responded to reports of a motorcycle crash involving 27-year-old Cody Morris of Plano. Tragically, Morris was pronounced dead over 40 minutes after the collision.
Authorities received a call from Joseph, who reported his involvement in the crash. Investigations revealed that Joseph’s BMW sedan collided with Morris’s motorcycle. Officers at the scene noted signs of intoxication in Joseph, leading to charges of driving while intoxicated and collision involving death.
Kelvin Joseph, a former University of Kentucky standout, was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He later joined the Miami Dolphins in 2023. His career has been marked by previous incidents, including being featured in a 2022 investigation related to a deadly shooting outside a club. Joseph was in a vehicle with a suspect on the night of the murder but was eventually cleared of any wrongdoing.
