The Homeland Security Department says a man wanted in a hit-and-run in Nashville, Tennessee, last month is an illegal migrant from Venezuela.
The department confirmed the suspect, Tony Gebian Lopez Infante, who allegedly drove his Florida car into a 21-year-old man, illegally entered the U.S. in 2023.
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said the Biden administration released Lopez Infante into the U.S. two years ago.
“An illegal alien who should never have been in the U.S. allegedly struck a young man who was celebrating his 21st birthday in a hit-and-run crash and is still at large,” McLaughlin said in a statement. “The Biden Administration released this illegal alien into our country in 2023.”
The man struck by the car was Zachary Carach, 21. McLaughlin said that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is praying for his recovery.
