An attempt by the demonstrably left-wing Associated Press to link an Ohio GOP Senate candidate to a porn site has fallen by the wayside.
To hear the AP tell it, candidate Bernie Moreno likely made an account on the adult website Adult Friend Finder in 2008 seeking “Men for 1-on-1 sex.”
The AP claims to have confirmed this by reviewing “records made public through a massive and well-publicized data breach of the website.”
“The AP review confirmed that someone with access to Moreno’s email account created the profile, though the AP could not definitively confirm whether it was created by Moreno himself,” the AP reported.
NEW: @AP review of leaked data from the website Adult Friend Finder confirms private GOP worries. #OHSen candidate Bernie Moreno’s work email was used to create a profile in 2008 seeking “Men for 1-on-1 sex.”

There’s just one problem. This whole narrative is bull, according to Adult Friend Finder founder Andrew Conru.
In a post published to the social media site X on Saturday, Conru claimed to have confirmed that the account was most likely not Moreno’s.
“I reviewed all the available information and it showed that the account had only a single visit, no activity, no profile photo, consistent with a prank or someone just checking out the site,” he wrote. “That’s it.”
“The AP report seeming to claim that the available data proves the account was created in Florida is inaccurate, as location information is manually entered during the signup process. In reality, there appears to be no public geolocation data tied to the account.
“It’s important to recognize that even temporary access to an email account is sufficient to create a fake dating profile in someone else’s name. My sincere apologies to Bernie and anyone similarly affected by the 2016 data incident,” he concluded.

From here, the story gets a little complicated.
First, Dan Ricci, a former intern for Moreno, has claimed he created the account as a “stupid prank.” Meanwhile, Helder Rosa, a former Ricci employee, has confirmed that interns had access to Moreno’s email.
Second, Moreno and his wife have for their part blamed the AP’s reporting on his top rival in the Senate race, Ohio state Sen. Matt Dolan.
“It’s a sick, last-minute attack by desperate people,” he told Politico on Friday. “This is what they do. Look at what they did to Judge Kavanaugh, look at what they did to President Trump.”
“My husband and I have known Matt Dolan and his family for years,” his wife said in a separate statement. “For him to stoop this low, simply because he’s losing this race is disgusting, disgraceful, and he should be embarrassed. If he’s willing to slander my husband simply to win a political election, he doesn’t belong anywhere near elected office.”
“His desperate attempts will backfire, and I have full confidence that Ohioans will see through his dirty tricks and elect an actual conservative to the U.S. Senate. Now that this story has proven to be 100% false, if Matt even has an ounce of integrity left in him, he will publicly disavow this slime coming from his family-funded Super PAC,” she added.

Why is Moreno even facing any attacks? Partly because of his so-called “anti-LGBT” rhetoric.
“During his current Senate campaign, Moreno has accused advocates for LGBTQ rights of advancing a ‘radical’ agenda of ‘indoctrination,’” according to complaints from the AP. ” He is endorsed by Ohio Value Voters, a group that opposes LGBTQ rights, including same-sex marriage.”
“And his campaign’s social media accounts have blasted his opponents, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose and State Sen. Matt Dolan, as supporters of a “radical transgender agenda,” the AP’s complaining continues.
Moreno is also being attacked for recently receiving former President Donald Trump’s endorsement and for staunchly defending the former president.
Speaking at an Ohio Trump rally this Saturday, Moreno shared a particularly interesting message to so-called Republicans who “don’t like” the former president, according to Fox News.
“I am so sick of Republicans that will say ‘I support President Trump’s policies, but I don’t like the man,’” he said. This is a good man. This is a great American. This man wakes up every day fighting for us, fighting for this country. He loves this country like no other leader in this nation has ever loved this country.”
