If you didn’t know better, you might start thinking MSNBC hates white people.
Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, a 36-year-old Democrat who was elected to lead the city in 2020, didn’t even try to hide his disdain for white people during his segment on “The ReidOut.”
“We know what they want to say but they don’t have the courage to say the N-word,” Scott told host Joy Reid.
Reid pointed to a post on X, one “boosted by Elon Musk in the past,” which referred to Scott as “Baltimore’s DEI [diversity, equity, inclusion] mayor.”
“It’s going to get so, so much worse,” the account wrote. “Prepare accordingly.”

Noting that Scott was elected with 70% of Baltimore’s vote, “in a city that is 61 percent black,” Reid surmised, “By right-wing logic, a diversity hire would have been a white man.”
“Which, of course, is what they want,” she said from the seat of her multi-million-dollar job. “Only the white Christian men may have the things.”
Reid then gave Scott an opportunity to “respond to the tomfoolery and attacks” on him “for having the nerve to be black and also a mayor.”
“I know and we all know and you know very well,” Scott replied, “that black men and young black men in particular have been the boogeymen for those who are racist and think that only straight, wealthy, white men should have a say in anything.”
“We’ve been the boogeymen for them since the first day they brought us to this country,” he added. “And what they mean by ‘DEI,’ in my opinion, is ‘Duly Elected Incumbent.’”
“The fact that I don’t believe in their untrue and wrong ideology, and the fact that I am very proud of my heritage and who I am and where I come from, scares them,” Scott said.
“Because me being in my position means that their way of thinking, their way of life being, comfortable while everyone else suffers, is going to be at risk,” the mayor said, “and they should be afraid because that is my purpose in life.”

“Nothing to see here…” wrote Libs of TikTok on X, “just the Mayor of Baltimore threatening White people.”
“I can’t understand why Baltimore is the murder capital of planet Earth,” replied influencer Vince Langman.

“It’s basically a suburb of Washington, DC,” said another user, “so the people are comfortable with taking what they want by force.”
“Wow,” a third wrote, “imagine a white Major saying such things.”

It was a point that bears repeating.
“Imagine a white mayor saying that his purpose in life was to make black people afraid,” one user wrote. “How do you think the media would react?”
