Judge Ana Reyes just ANNIHALATED the Department of Justice (DOJ.)
Despite being put in place by President Joe Biden, Reyes has not let the Biden administration sway her decisions in the courtroom.
Now, Reyes has huge issues with the double standards put in place by President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice.
The double standard in question?
The fact that the DOJ threw elderly Peter Navarro behind bars for ignoring a subpoena but has now turned a blind eye when two of their own lawyers just did the SAME thing.
“There’s a person in jail right now because you all brought a criminal lawsuit against him because he did not appear for a House subpoena,” said Reyes.
Judge Reyes delivered a gut punch to the DOJ that left the courtroom in shock.
“I think it’s quite rich you guys pursue criminal investigations and put people in jail for not showing up, but then direct current executive branch employees to take the same approach. You all are making a bunch of arguments that you would never accept from any other litigant. And now you guys are flouting those subpoenas. . . . And you don’t have to show up?” Reyes continued.
Reyes was not finished.
“I imagine that there are hundreds, if not thousands of defense attorneys . . . who would be happy to hear that DOJ’s position is, if you don’t agree with a subpoena, if you believe it’s unconstitutional or unlawful, you can unilaterally not show up,” Reyes pointed out.
Reyes is right.
This is a classic example of the Biden administration picking and choosing when the rules apply and when they do not.
We need MORE judges like Judge Reyes in this country.
The more we call out double standards put in play by the government, the better.
Our government needs accountability now more than ever!
We commend Reyes for having the courage to speak up about a clear injustice.
