The impending Social Security financial crisis has seen trial balloons floated by some that Americans shouldn’t be allowed to retire at 65 years old, suggesting that the age needs to be raised.
The latest prominent figure to speak out in favor of prolonging the working years was Larry Fink, the CEO of BlackRock, the multinational investment firm that manages over $10 trillion in assets.
In his annual letter to shareholders, Fink wrote: “Today, if you’re married and both you and your spouse are over the age of 65, there’s a 50/50 chance that at least one of you will be receiving a Social Security check until you’re 90.”

“No one should have to work longer than they want to,” Fink said. “But I do think it’s a bit crazy that our anchor idea for the right retirement age, 65 years old, originates from the time of the Ottoman Empire.”
Fink, an ivory tower-dwelling elitist, may not have realized it but the age to retire and receive full Social Security benefits has already been raised to 67 years old but he made his point, the little people don’t deserve a break from their lifetimes of toil.
It’s easy for him to say, he’s just another filthy rich prick.
Another big name of note, conservative influencer and pundit Ben Shapiro, also recently advocated against Americans being able to retire and enjoy their waning years in some degree of leisure.

“No one in the United States should be retiring at 65 years old. Frankly, I think retirement itself is a stupid idea unless you have some sort of health problem. Everybody that I know who is elderly, who has retired, is dead within five years. And if you talk to people who are elderly and they lose their purpose in life by losing their job and they stop working, things go to hell in a handbasket real quick,” he added.
Former South Carolina Governor and failed GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley also has called for changes in the retirement age and met with Fink last year, two birds of a feather.
It’s like a carrot dangled in front of a mule, the high rollers will keep moving it further and further away until the mule drops dead which would suit a lot of people just fine.
Fink – who is also a major pusher of the DEI agenda – was savaged on social media for his remarks.
“I can guarantee you that Mr. Larry Fink, BlackRock CEO, has never done a day of physical labor in his life,” one user wrote on X. “Otherwise, he wouldn’t say such a damned stupid thing like saying the retirement age should be raised.”
“The mega wealthy class LARRY FINK, wants you to work as slaves until you drop. More money for them. I don’t understand it, but that’s a fact,” another X user opined.
While there is much complaining about Social Security and Government-run Medicare which have long been derogatorily labeled as “entitlements” and not programs that workers are FORCED to pay into for their entire working lives and have every reason to expect the promises of the government to be honored, there is no serious other options besides cuts and eligibility age extensions.
A much better solution to shore up the funding would be to take a hint from Argentina’s new no-nonsense leader, President Javier Milei who is reportedly ready to slash 70,000 government worker jobs.

This is a damned good idea that should be mimicked right here in the USA, although such a number would do little to peel the leeches off of the backs of the American people who are forced to fund millions of federal workers and contractors – many of them lazy, redundant and useless – and their own lavish government retirement plans.
And that’s only a start because there is plenty of money for Social Security that can simply be shifted away from other wasteful spending that benefits nobody except those who profit off a rigged system while screwing hard-working people who have paid into the system.
