Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson joins many Democrats who are now sorry for backing Joe Biden in 2020. Johnson once proclaimed that the incumbent president is the “best choice.”
The Rock said he regretted his 2020 endorsement because it created an “incredible amount of division in our country.”
“The endorsement that I made years ago with Biden was one I thought was the best decision for me at that time,” remarked Johnson in an interview with Fox News.
“I thought, ‘I’m in this position where I have some influence, and I felt it was my job then to exercise my influence [and] share: This is who I’m going to endorse.’” he furthered.
“I was then the most-followed man in the world and am today, and I appreciate that, but what that caused was something that tears me up in my guts—which is division. That got me.”
“I didn’t realize that then; I just felt like there was a lot of unrest, and I’d like things to calm down,” shares the WWE legend.
Meanwhile, he shared that since his 2020 endorsement caused division, his goal now is to unite the country.
“I realize now, going into this election, I will not do that. My goal is to bring this country together. I believe in that,” Johnson emphasized.
The Fast & Furious star also added that he will keep his politics to himself this time.
“It is between me and the ballot box,” he quipped.
Will Cain of Fox News then asked Johnson if he was happy with the state of America right now.
“Am I happy with the state of America right now? Well, that answer’s no,” replied Johnson.
However, he also emphasized that, as an “optimistic” guy, he believes that “we can get better.”
The WWE star also remarked that whoever wins this election will have his support.
“Like a lot of us out there, not trusting of all politicians, I do trust the American people, and whoever they vote for, that’s going to be my president and who I will support 100%.”
Before the interview, the WWE legend turned Hollywood A-lister was often asked if he thought about running for president, but he said that was out of the question.
“I’m not a politician,” he said. “I’m not into politics. I care about our country. My desire and my priorities are my babies, school drop-offs and pick-ups, and things like that. That is important to me. I also feel like, in the spirit of bringing people together and bringing our country together, I don’t know if that is the right move at this point.”
Early this year, The Rock acknowledged the ovation Trump receives every time he enters the UFC arena when he was asked if he would consider a possible wrestling match with the former President.
