President Joe Biden’s job approval numbers have been in steady decline almost since he was inaugurated, but with mounting crises at the border and in the supply chain, those figures have taken an even more drastic dip in recent weeks.
Now, in the latest punch to the gut for the Democrat president, a new poll shows nearly 6 in 10 Americans aren’t confident that Joe Biden “is physically and mentally up to the job of being president of the United States.”
The terrible numbers for Biden come out of the latest survey by Rasmussen Reports. According to the Washington Examiner, a full 58% of respondents to the pollster’s latest survey said they lack confidence in Biden’s ability to serve as commander-in-chief.
Crunching the numbers
The Examiner‘s Paul Bedard got an exclusive early look at the numbers, and he said “28% of Democrats said they were concerned” about Biden’s mental and physical fitness, “joining 83% of Republicans who said they weren’t confident in Biden’s abilities.”
“In August, when Rasmussen asked the same question, just half, or 50% of voters, said they were not confident he was up to the job,” Bedard reported.
The survey also found that a growing majority of Americans don’t even think Biden is the one in charge; instead, other individuals are calling the shots behind the scenes, said 53% of those polled.
Meanwhile, Rasmussen’s Daily Presidential Tracking Poll currently shows Biden’s approval rating at a dismal 42%, with 56% disapproving. When factoring in those who feel “strongly” either way — 21% “strongly” approve and 48% “strongly” disapprove — the president is left deep underwater with a -27 rating in the Presidential Approval Index.
Biden sinking even in left-leaning polls
While many complain that Rasmussen leans right, the figures aren’t that far off from the surprisingly low approval numbers that Biden has seen for two surveys in a row from the typically Democrat-friendly Quinnipiac University.
Quinnipiac reported this week that Biden stood at a mere 37% approval among those polled, with 52% disapproving. It’s slightly worse than the 38% approval to 53% disapproval he garnered in early October from that same polling outfit.
Biden’s job approval numbers were only marginally better among just registered voters, with 40% approving compared to 51% disapproving. His favorability rating, on the other hand, has taken a precipitous dive over the past several months, and currently rests at 38% favorable to 50% unfavorable, down substantially from his record of 49% favorable and 42% unfavorable back in May.
Both of those polls comport with the average approval recorded by FiveThirtyEight in its compilation of multiple polls, which currently shows Biden with 43.7% approval and 50% disapproval among American voters.
Indeed, while the mainstream media may be doing its best to paint Biden in a positive light, it seems Americans just aren’t buying it. The numbers don’t lie.
