Police-defunded Portland breaks annual homicide records with two months remaining in 2021

PORTLAND, OR – According to reports, the city of Portland has surpassed their annual homicide record as of October 19th of 2021 – a feat in which no city would certainly want the honor of attaining.

This grim milestone surpasses the previous record number of homicides established back in 1987.

A recent report from Fox News noted that the previous record number of homicides within Portland was 66, which said number was established back in 1987. However, as of October 19th, the city of Portland has seen 67 homicides.

A report from the Associated Press noted that the city has endured approximately “1,000 shootings” thus far in 2021, with firearms having “accounted for three-quarters of homicides” this year.

While a wide array of these shooting incidents is linked to gangs, physical altercations and “retaliation killings”, innocent bystanders have also been impacted by the violence.

For example, there was the recent killing of 34-year-old Jacob Eli Knight Vasquez, who was fatally shot on September 24th while at a pizzeria in the 500 block of Northwest 21st Avenue.

Police noted in their press release that “detectives do not believe Knight-Vasquez was the intended target of the shooting” as two others were non-fatally shot during the incident.

The family of the deceased signaled that cutting police budgets and tying the hands of police officers is not helping the situation in the city. Vasquez’s brother-in-law, Don Osborn, stated the following about the anti-police conundrum impacting Portland:

“Let’s please untie the hands of our law enforcement officers. I believe if the proper tools were in place for our law enforcement officers, this wouldn’t even have happened.”

Portland, according to reports, is already adopting innovative safety measures, such as installing traffic barrels to deter drive-by shootings and halting minor traffic stops so police can concentrate on reportedly more urgent threats.

In 2021, Portland had twice as many murders as its bigger Pacific Northwest neighbor, Seattle, and had more homicides than other larger cities, including San Francisco.

The Albuquerque, New Mexico, metro region, which has approximately 679,000 people and has witnessed a record 97 murders this year, is another hard-hit Western city.

With the bureau’s authorized manpower falling short of 128 officers, Portland Police have failed to suppress the violence impacting the city. Approximately 200 officers have departed the agency since August 2020.

Feds say Portland gang members who are twins illegally acquired over 80 firearms, many linked to area shootings

(Originally published October 9th, 2021)

PORTLAND, OR – According to a release from the Department of Justice, twin brothers who are purported gang members in Portland are facing federal changes for allegedly purchasing over 80 firearms illegally.

Following multiple shootings documented by the Gresham Police Department and the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, federal authorities launched an investigation in May to determine possible connections. Edward Charles Green and Thomas Edward Green III, 23-year-old twin brothers from Gresham, were allegedly connected to these shooting incidents, according to police.

Court documents note that the brothers claim to be members of the Unthank Park Hustlers, a Portland subset of the Bloods. Federal investigators heard about numerous unlawful firearms transactions allegedly made by the Green brothers around the same time.

According to authorities, the first shooting incident involving the Greens occurred on April 5th, 2020. A pistol was discharged from one apartment into another on SE Alder Street, prompting Portland police to respond. Officers reportedly seized a revolver when responding to the incident.

On April 23rd, Portland Police were called to the Greens’ father’s house on NE Sumner Street after a gunshot went through a front window.

The bullet had been allegedly fired from within the house, but the suspects’ father first told police he had thrown a rock through his own window. However, the suspects’ father later changed his story, claiming a pistol accidentally went off as he was teaching his son how to clean it.

Officers discovered three pistols and an AK-47 in the house, three of which were allegedly purchased illegally by Edward Green.

According to court documents, Portland Police discovered four additional firearms bought unlawfully by Edward Green during a five-day period in late August 2020. Officers responded to a shooting outside the brothers’ residence in Southeast Portland and confiscated one of the weapons.

Officers were summoned to a Portland hospital about a walk-in shooting victim and discovered the other three firearms in a car parked outside the hospital. The vehicle in question reportedly showed clear indications of bullet damage, which led to the discovery and occupants being taken into custody.

Reportedly two additional handguns purchased illegally by Edward Green were discovered following a collision caused by gunfire in Fairview on November 11th, 2020. Come January 23rd, 2021, in Multnomah County, another gun reportedly bought by Edward Green was confiscated during a traffic stop.

The Green brothers’ home was also reportedly the target of a drive-by shooting on May 21st, where their home was shot at 14 times and someone inside of the brothers’ home returned fire with approximately 30 shots.

The Metro Safe Streets Task Force allegedly discovered nine empty semi-automatic gun cases, several dozen spent bullets and cartridge casings, 27 firearm and rifle magazines, a range bag with more than 400 spent cartridges, and five receipts for recent gun purchases by the Green brothers while carrying out a search warrant at the house on June 3rd.

Officials say that forensic examination of the spent cartridges connected them to at least ten separate shootings in the Portland region between April 2020 and July 2021.

Two additional firearms reportedly connected to the Green brothers were discovered during two separate traffic stops later in the summer.

A .40 caliber handgun bought by Thomas Green III only days before was discovered when Beaverton Police pulled up a vehicle with no plates on July 23rd. After Portland police pulled up a car with four individuals inside, including one known member of the Hoover Criminal Gang, another.40 caliber pistol reportedly purchased by Edward Green was discovered.

Between April 2020 and August 2021, authorities discovered 12 firearms allegedly purchased unlawfully by the Green brothers.

In total, ATF officials say that the brothers purchased 82 guns from firearm stores in the Portland area during an 18-month period beginning in April 2020, according to state records and information acquired by the agency.

On September 29th, Thomas Green III was detained at an apartment where police reportedly discovered two semi-automatic weapons, 16 empty gun boxes, and ammunition. He was freed to house confinement after appearing in federal court later that day.

On October 6th, Edward Green was detained at his father’s house in Northeast Portland. On the same day, he appeared in federal court and was ordered held in custody.

Both brothers have been charged with falsifying information in connection with the acquisition of a firearm and making false statements in a federal firearms licensee (FFL) record, according to a criminal complaint.

Antifa sets fires in Portland, vandalizing city while Mayor Wheeler says he must “work to be a feminist”

(Originally published October 5th, 2021)

PORTLAND, OR – Following the decision by a grand jury to not indict the officer who fatally shot a man in Lents Park this past April, Antifa rioters decided to engage in some “direct action” on October 1st – setting fires and committing various acts of vandalism.

While the city of Portland played host to rioters during the weekend, Mayor Ted Wheeler announced that his “work to be a feminist is not done”, capitalizing on the Women’s March.

On September 24th, the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office announced that a grand jury had decided to not indict Officer Zachary DeLong regarding the April 16th fatal shooting of 46-year-old Robert Delgado.

The shooting happened at approximately 9:30 a.m. after Portland Police responded to calls about a man at Lents Park with a firearm. Delgado was roughly 90 feet away from officers when he was instructed to put his hands up and get on the ground.

Instead of complying, Delgado continued to yell at officers and produced what appeared to be a firearm. Officer DeLong fired at Delgado after he pointed the firearm at officers. However, following the shooting, the firearm that Delgado produced turned out to be a replica gun.

Nevertheless, based upon the circumstances of the shooting, the grand jury found no criminal culpability with the officer’s actions – which is reasonable when officers on scene during the incident clearly didn’t have the luxury of assuming Delgado was toting a fake gun from such a distance.

But in what has become the norm for Portland, Antifa militants sent out a rallying call on Twitter to “bloc up” and engage in “direct action” at the Multnomah County Justice Center (which the flyer referred to as the “injustice center”) on the evening of October 1st.

In typical fashion, rioters engaged in vandalism and arson in the name of “Justice for Robert Delgado”, with the deceased’s sister Tina even being photographed while reportedly leading chants that were parroted by Portland’s brand of black bloc miscreants.

Video was captured of a fire set in the middle of the street, with chants of “fuck 12” being captured.

Graffiti was also on the menu during the evening of October 1st, with the expected “Justice for (insert name)” being employed as well as anti-police slogans like “1312”.

City Hal was also targeted with instances of arson and vandalism, with video capturing a flag being set ablaze inside of the building as well as some sort of smoke bomb being set off inside as well.

And the day following the lawlessness that occurred in Portland, Mayor Wheeler decided to make an important announcement on Twitter about his excitement over the Women’s March. For those unaware, the Women’s March that was scheduled for October 2nd was a pro-abortion demonstration.

Without even acknowledging the criminal acts that occurred in his city the evening prior, Mayor Wheeler tweeted about the slated Women’s March and how he needs to work on becoming a better “feminist”:

“Today people from all over the country will participate in the Women’s March to mobilize and defend reproductive rights. I want to thank everyone for showing up and being heard at this critical moment in history. My full statement is available online.”

“My work to be a feminist is not done, there is more to learn and new ways to grow in my allyship. Now is the time to listen, learn and get involved. I am proud to be an ally in this fight for justice and I am proud to be a feminist.”

The irony is, Mayor Wheeler has mastered the craft of being able to garner critical responses from both the Left and the Right in his Twitter statements that tend to signal virtues associated with left-leaning politics.

Folks on the Left were critical of Mayor Wheeler by remarking on the use of tear gas during previous protests and riots in the city, considering he was advertising a march within the city of Portland and Antifa enthusiasts often frame their riots as being “marches” or “demonstrations”.

Those among the Right thought Mayor Wheeler’s comments were completely out of touch with what’s really of concern within the city – namely crime and riots that seem to play out with impunity.

Needless to say, Mayor Wheeler seems to get criticism on all fronts even in his attempts to pander to topics that typically align with those on the left-end of the political spectrum.
