September 2021 was punctuated by original research and writing on topics that highlighted our tendency to break news and fresh angles on the ongoing investigation into the influencers shaping our political sphere.
In outlets as diverse as the Washington Free Beacon, LifeSite, the Daily Signal, and RealClearEnergy, our original reporting on topics such as the left-wing funding of eco-conservatism and the union payoffs included in Biden’s tax-and-spend legislation, CRC continues to shape the news and the narrative on how the money is spent to influence. The best media hits of September are offered below:
“How The Left Is Spreading Global Warming Alarmism on the Right”
RealClearEnergy, Hayden Ludwig (Op-ed), September 14, 2021
If there’s one thing the Left knows cold, it’s deception. From Vladimir Lenin to Saul Alinsky, leftists are unparalleled masters of the art of victory through hoodwinking: Defeating opponents by fooling them into false agreement.
Now it’s spreading to the debate over climate change, with environmental activists claiming there’s nothing “partisan” about their one-sided campaign to fundamentally transform America. Radicals, socialists, and authoritarians know that global warming offers them the best chance to weaponize Big Government and dictate where Americans live and work, what they drive, eat, and buy, and even what beliefs they’re allowed to hold—all through fear.
“Democrats Pack $3.5 Trillion Tax-and-Spend Bill with Payoffs to Big Labor”
Daily Signal, Mike Watson (Op-ed), September 29, 2021
The core of the Biden administration and Democratic-controlled Congress’ legislative agenda is a $3.5 trillion tax-and-spend bill.
And while much attention has been paid both to the astronomical price tag (equivalent to more than three-fourths of the entire cost of World War II) or proposed provisions like a major expansion of legal status for illegal immigrants, less has been paid to how the bill proposes to fundamentally reorient power in the economy from workers and employers to labor union bosses.
Democrats hope to get as much of the Protecting the Right to Organize Act (aka PRO Act) into the bill as Senate rules allow. Using the reconciliation process allows the Democratic majority to bypass a Republican filibuster on a party-line vote.
“Gerrymandering—A Process That Is Inevitable in Democracy”
Illinois Journal Courier, Hans Von Spakovsky, September 24, 2021
As a 2019 analysis by the Capital Research Center showed, California’s “independent” redistricting commission actually drew more partisan congressional districts than the partisan Republicans controlling the Texas state legislature did. And what’s worse, such commissions are unaccountable to the people.
Voters who are unhappy with the districts drawn by legislators, county commissioners or city council members can vote them out of office. Voters can’t do that to appointed commissioners who draw partisan districts that voters don’t like.
“Gordon: Durham Indictment in Russiagate Could Lead to Jake Sullivan”
Daily Caller, J.D. Gordon, September 20, 2021
So how can Sullivan be held accountable? How about the 200-plus other players in the government, media, activist groups, foreign spy networks, etc. shown by Washington, DC investigative think tank Capital Research Center to have fomented Russiagate?
Since Durham’s investigation remains open, Sullivan and Clinton campaign colleagues alluded to in the indictment: Marc Elias; Robby Mook; Jennifer Palmieri; plus many others, could still be indicted for conspiracy. It’s unlikely Sussmann acted alone. Facing five years in prison, he may implicate others. Also, some could be charged with process crimes stemming from the probe, just as Mueller ensnared several Trump associates.
“Rise of the EcoRight”
The Bill Meyer Show, Hayden Ludwig (Guest), September 28, 2021
Hayden Ludwig is a senior investigative researcher at the Capital Research Center, how the Left spreads global warming alarmism to the Right, later Jo Co Commissioner Herman Baertschiger, redistricting, politics, plague and panic news.
“These Are the Left-Wing Activists Behind the Most Sweeping Abortion Bill in US History”
LifeSiteNews.com, Hayden Ludwig (Op-ed), September 29, 2021
The bill is doomed to fall far short of the 60 votes needed to overcome a Republican filibuster, but it offers a glimpse into leftists’ fear of a conservative majority on the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade. Take it from Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who announced that their goal is “codifying Roe v. Wade.”
The legislation would overwrite state abortion restrictions like the “heartbeat bill” recently passed in Texas, which requires that a physician first check for a heartbeat and bars him from aborting the fetus if he detects one.
But like virtually everything backed by radicals, it goes far beyond abortion into the bizarre netherworld of “reproductive justice” — combating “systems of oppression, lack of bodily autonomy, white supremacy, and anti-Black racism,” as well as “enslavement, rape, and experimentation on Black women.”
“SEIU Throws Weight Behind Mail-In Voting”
Washington Free Beacon, Hayden Ludwig (Op-ed), September 22, 2021
One of the largest and most politically active unions in America gave $40,000 to a group that registers Virginians to receive absentee ballots in an effort to bolster Democratic turnout for the gubernatorial election.
The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) endorsed a mailer that contains a partially pre-filled absentee ballot application form sent by the D.C.-based Center for Voter Information, a left-of-center vote-by-mail advocacy group. The mailers, one of which was obtained by the Virginia Project, have targeted over two million voters across 134 Virginia counties and cities, urging them to register for mail-in ballots ahead of the November election, when Virginians will vote for their next governor and control of the House of Delegates.
