Two men have been charged with financial crimes connected with the investigation into a Massachusetts woman found dead at her home earlier this week.
Kelly Shaw, 44, and John “Jack” Harper, 45, have been charged with larceny valued over $1,200, uttering forged checks and other offenses, the Patriot Ledger reported.
Shaw was 56-year-old Christine Ruth Mello’s roommate at her Weymouth home, police said, and Harper is Shaw’s “associate.” Mello was found dead on Monday, as CrimeOnline reported, and police are investigating her death as a homicide.
Police first went to the home on Saturday after Mello was reported missing, but it’s not clear if they went inside at that time. Neighbors said they had not seen or heard from her in many days.
Shaw and Harper were set to appear in court Thursday afternoon, but the hearing was pushed to Friday morning, WBTS reported.
“There are no homicide charges in place at this time as the investigation continues,” District Attorney Michael Morrissey said in a statement.
