The Hits Keep Coming: Biden Dealt Another Blow In The House

The hits keep coming in and the Democrats have taken another blow.

Another House Democrat chairmen is stepping down.

A little over a month ago, Rep. Ron Kind (D-Wash) announced that he would be stepping down in 2022. President Trump won Kind’s district twice and he anticipated he would not be re-elected in 2022.

Last week, Rep. John Yarmuth (D-KY), chairman of the House Budget Committee announced he was going to retire. The announcement was significant because Democrats don’t have chairmen term limits like the Republicans do. Yarmuth could have served as chairman as long as he wanted but, instead he’s going to retire.

“Truth be told, I never expected to be in Congress this long. I always said I couldn’t imagine being here longer than 10 years,” Yarmuth said in a video posted on Twitter. “After every election, I was asked how long I intended to serve, and I never had an answer. Today, I do. This term will be my last.”

Now, Congressman Mike Doyle has announced that he is going to retire as well because it is expected he would not win re-election. The 14 term congressman has decided to step down after being challenged by a far-left progressive and even if he won the primary there was no guarantee he would beat his Republican challenger.

From WESA:

Doyle faces a challenge from the left in next year’s Democratic primary. And if he were to win, it might only be to confront the prospect of being a member of the minority party in the U.S. House in an off-year election where signs point to Republican gains.

Traditionally, the party controlling the president traditionally loses seats in the House. That loss is compounded if the president’s approval ratings are under 50%.

The Democrats in Congress see what is on the horizon and that’s why they are jumping ship.
