BREAKING: Gunman Escapes After Killing Female DC Metro Special Police Officer

Washington, DC – A female DC Metro Special Police Department (MSPD) officer was fatally shot in the line of duty while working in Southeast DC late Tuesday night.

The DC Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to the 3300-block of 10th Place Southeast near Savannah Street at approximately 8:45 p.m., WTOP reported.

Details regarding the nature of the call have not been released.

They arrived to find a female MSPD officer wounded, unresponsive, and not breathing, WTTG reported.

MPD homicide detectives responded to the scene shortly thereafter.

MPD Chief Robert Contee said the on-duty special police officer was working at a nearby apartment complex when she was gunned down, WTOP reported.

Chief Contee called the entire situation “unfortunate.”

“My heart goes out to the family of this Special Police officer,” he said.

The slain officer’s name has not been released.

Her family has been notified, Chief Contee confirmed to WTTG.

Investigators said they are searching for a white Camry with dark tinted windows, WTOP reported.

The suspect vehicle was last seen heading down Wheeler Road towards Southern Avenue, SE.

MPD is also offering a $25,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest in the case, WTOP reported.

The special officer’s murder was one of eight shootings that took place in the Southeast quadrant of the nation’s capital on Tuesday, according to WTTG.
