In the wake of his humiliating fiasco in Afghanistan that resulted in the deaths of 13 U.S. servicemembers, President Joe Biden is now facing a new crisis at the southern U.S. border involving tens of thousands of mostly-Haitian migrants camped out under a bridge on the border with Texas.
According to the Washington Examiner, in a shocking twist Monday, the Biden administration, through Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, is now pleading with the Pentagon for military assistance in bringing the new migrant situation under control.
The request comes as shocking video footage has emerged of large masses of migrants pitching tents under a bridge in Del Rio, Texas.

Cry for help
The Biden administration, including Mayorkas, spent the majority of Biden’s first months in office insisting that what was happening at the southern border wasn’t a crisis, rather, they preferred to label it a “challenge.”
However, during Mayorkas’ press conference on Monday, it was made crystal clear that DHS, and the Biden administration in general, has lost complete control of the situation at the Del Rio-Acuna International Bridge, and probably multiple other locations along the southern U.S. border.
“The approach has been an all-of-federal-government effort and, frankly, an all-of-federal-government effort in partnership with state and local authorities in the civil society,” Mayorkas said at the presser.
The DHS secretary added: “And the Department of Defense is evaluating a request for assistance, and we hope that will come to fruition very shortly.”
Why the military?
Reportedly, a Pentagon spokesperson familiar with the request from the Biden administration indicated that military personnel would primarily be used in a transportation and logistics capacity, including leading the transport of the nearly 15,000 migrants to DHS and CBP holding facilities for processing.
Additional requests for comment on the rapidly deteriorating situation were not immediately answered, the Examiner noted.
Apparently, the mass of migrants, who are reportedly mostly Haitian nationals, are under the hopes that the Biden administration will allow them entry into the United States, even as a backlog currently exists of over 1 million migrant cases.
Only time will tell if the Pentagon approves the administration’s request and, if so, how that will play out both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Needless to say, the Biden administration seems to be in well over its head with the latest evolving migrant crisis.
