Now that she knows the Princess of Wales has cancer, Blake Lively is “mortified” that she made fun of Kate Middleton’s photoshopped Mother’s Day picture.
Following the release by Kensington Palace of Middleton’s emotional announcement that she is undergoing chemotherapy for an unexpected diagnosis of cancer, Lively took to Instagram for a mea culpa.

“I’m sure no one cares today but I feel like I have to acknowledge this,” the actress began. “I made a silly post around the ‘photoshop fails’ frenzy, and oh man, that post has me mortified today.”
“I’m sorry,” Lively wrote. “Sending love and well wishes to all, always.”
“You’re right,” wrote one user on X. “We don’t care. Forward your apologies to @KensingtonRoyal.”
Dear @blakelively
Would you have written this, if her cancer diagnosis hasn’t been made public? You’re right.
We don’t care.

“Last week, the ‘Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ actress shared an obviously edited photo to promote her beverage company, Betty Buzz, which featured an abnormally large thumb and a floating lemon,” the New York Post reports. “‘I’m so excited to share this new photo I just took today to announce our 4 new @bettybuzz & @bettybooze products!’ Lively captioned the since-deleted Instagram post. “‘Now you know why I’ve been MIA.’”
Lively isn’t the only celebrity who crossed a line in the minds of angry X users.
“I’m officially done with celebrities. They are trash,” fumed one user. “Stephen Colbert, Blake Lively, Andy Cohen, Kim Kardashian & numerous other people should’ve kept their mouths shut. But everyone was making fun of the Princess and using her name for clout.”
“Catherine will always be something they will never be…classy.”

But even Middleton’s announcement hasn’t slowed down the speculation.
Internet sleuths descended on the video and found reason, they believe, to question its veracity.
“Kate Middleton is wearing same type of dress after seven years,” one eagle-eyed user noted. “Stop believing them.”

And then came the tin-foil bombshell: “NEW ARTICLE: The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton has been diagnosed with Cancer – there is a high probability she has Turbo Cancer, caused by COVID-19 mRNA Vaccines she took in 2021.”

“Are you sure you know who you’re listening too [sic]?” one user asked. “Not everything is as it seems. #KateMiddleton”
