Kids in pro-Trump hats, shirts pose alongside Biden after 9/11 ceremony

Despite calling for bipartisanship and unity, President Joe Biden has frequently attacked and demonized former President Donald Trump and his millions of supporters.

Plenty of his predecessor’s fans are quick to hit back with criticism of their own, including with pro-Trump campaign hats being worn by a handful of children who recently appeared in an unexpected photo-op with Biden.

“We can all come together”

The incident occurred at a fire station in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, following a memorial ceremony for United Flight 93 on the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

A group of eight children was reportedly nearby and at least three of them were donning pro-Trump gear.

The mother of one child posted the resulting group shot and added the caption: “We may not always see eye to eye, but we can all come together to be United!”

Additional photos began to emerge on social media, leading to speculation that the chance encounter might have been set up by parents opposed to the Biden administration. Some commenters wondered if Biden even noticed the Trump campaign shirts and caps.

“The real issue for those kids”

As it turns out, he did see the garb, as he explained in subsequent remarks to reporters. He acknowledged the children and their apparent political affiliation while taking a subtle shot at his predecessor.

“I think the real issue for those kids that — just had a picture taken with — couple of them had Trump hats from last year — I think, for them, it’s going to be: Are we going to, in the next four, five, six, 10 years, demonstrate that democracies can work, or not?” he asked.

He also opined on the fundamental American ideal that all men are created equally, asserting: “I mean, we never lived up to it, but we’ve never walked away from it, except the last — previous four years.”

While it might be unusual to see children visibly supporting Biden’s rival while posing alongside him for photos, plenty of Americans have chosen to interpret it as evidence that we can put our partisan differences aside in pursuit of national unity.

With a growing number of Republicans actively calling for Biden to be impeached, however, it seems that a group of pro-Trump kids is the least of Biden’s political worries.
