It sometimes seems as though American society overlooks the bravery displayed on a near-daily basis by the nation’s emergency medical workers, firefighters, and police officers in service of others.
Fox News host Harris Faulkner is hoping to rectify that oversight, though, with a new special focused on highlighting acts of heroism from first responders across the nation.
A Fox Nation special
The new special, titled “When Seconds Count,” is available exclusively on the Fox Nation streaming service, and Fox is offering a free one-year subscription for all first responders to the service as a way to promote the show.
Further, Fox also announced that all new sign-ups to Fox Nation prior to Sept. 20 will result in a $5 donation from the network to a charitable entity known as Answer the Call.
Faulkner described that group as “an organization dedicated to providing support to families of New York City’s first responders killed in the line of duty.”
Honoring the sacrifice
It was on Monday that Faulkner, on the set of the Outnumbered program she co-hosts, first announced the availability of the new special on first responders that she was “honored” to host on Fox Nation.
“It details dramatic rescues, from burning buildings to treacherous hiking trails, all caught on camera,” Faulkner said, making particular note of a rescue of a toddler on the verge of drowning.
She then played a brief clip of the program as a preview that was focused on the 911 calls that were received regarding a house fire and how first responders had been immediately dispatched to handle the situation and save lives.
Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnancy, now a fellow co-host of Outnumbered, said that she “cannot wait to watch this” as soon as she had the opportunity.
“As crime has gone up in our country, as COVID was raging, guess who didn’t sit down? Guess who didn’t quarantine and isolate with the rest of us in lockdown?” McEnany said. “It was our first responders — the men and women who (Faulker) interviewed … I can’t wait … I’ll be checking it out.”
The brave men and women who suit up every day as firefighters, paramedics, and police officers place their own lives and safety at risk to help save others from harm, and their often unsung heroism can never be heralded or highlighted enough.
