Breaking: Pentagon on HIGH ALERT, Shots Fired

From Rightwingnewshour.com:

The Pentagon is on high alert after a shooting took place just steps away from the facility, near a platform by the building’s Metro station.

Shots Fired

Intercoms within the Pentagon sounded a warning soon after the incident, asking all individuals inside the building to remain indoors “due to police activity outside.”

The facility has not released any details about the shooting, but an Associated Press (AP) reporter who happened to be near the building reported hearing multiple gunshots.

Another reporter for the AP who was in the area reported hearing police yell “shooter!”

“The Pentagon currently is on lock down due to an incident at the Pentagon Transit Center. We are asking the public to please avoid the area. More information will be forthcoming,” the Pentagon Force Protection Agency’s official Twitter account wrote.

“The scene of the incident is secure. It is still an active crime scene. We request that everyone stay away from the Metro rail entrance and bus platform area. Transportation at the Pentagon is diverted to Pentagon City,” the agency wrote in a second tweet approximately one hour later.

Speaking with NBC News, Sherri Ly, the media relations manager at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, said that Metrobuses were being diverted from the transit hub, and trains are bypassing the Pentagon Station “due to an active police investigation on the Pentagon Reservation.”

Two people with knowledge about the shooting who spoke on the condition of anonymity revealed that there was at least one person down, though the condition of the victim(s) is not known.

“Units responding to a reported active violence incident in the area of the pentagon metro,” Arlington Fire & EMS reported in a tweet.

Arlington Fire & EMS later posted an update to their original tweet, which read: “Scene is still active, ACFD did encounter multiple patients. NFI on patient status will be provided.”

According to the Pentagon, the lockdown has since been lifted, but the area is still an active crime scene.

“The Pentagon has lifted the lock down and has reopened. Corridor 2 and the Metro entrance remains closed. Corridor 3 is open for pedestrian traffic,” the Pentagon Force Protection Agency said in an update.
