An argument aboard a New York City subway between a man with a gun and a passenger he believed to be a cop-beating “migrant” turned bloody in Brooklyn on Thursday.
A 36-year-old man is in critical condition after he was shot in the head with his own gun following an altercation with a 32-year-old passenger who boarded at the Nostrand Avenue Station.
The harrowing incident was caught on cellphone video.
Police say the unidentified 36-year-old was already on the train and approached the passenger as the train started pulling away from the station, according to ABC7NY News.

The 36-year-old was aggressive and provoked the passenger, witnesses say.
Video shows the man, clad in a black hoodie and a yellow baseball cap, verbally threatening the passenger, shouting, “F**k your kind. F**k your race. F**k you.”
With the January assault on NYPD officers in Times Square by a pack of migrants still seemingly fresh in his mind, the 36-year-old yelled, “You think you’re gonna beat up cops? I’ll beat you up.”
The two men exchanged blows that quickly escalated when the older man pulled out either a razor blade or a knife.
“He thinks you are a migrant,” one woman told the younger man.
Reports the Daily Mail:
The 36-year-old landed a punch on the 32-year-old’s female companion, who appeared to have stabbed him in the back multiple times as he shouted repeatedly, ‘you stabbed me?’
Blood visibly seeped through the black hooded man’s shirt as the two men grappled, with the 36-year-old man ultimately sitting atop the 32-year-old.
Other passengers were begging the pair to stop as one person said, ‘come on, there’s babies on here.’
A man wearing a reflective vest managed to separate the two guys, but the 36-year-old rushed the woman and yelled, ‘I’m bleeding. You stabbed me, right?’
‘I didn’t do nothing,’ she answered.

The apparent aggressor then pulled out a gun and went after the passenger as panicked commuters hunkered down.
The younger man managed to grab the firearm from the 36-year-old and shot him in the head as the train pulled into the Hoyt-Schermerhorn station, ABC reports.
“The 32-year-old fired multiple shots, striking the 36-year-old,” NYPD Chief Michael Kemper said.
“Where’s the NYPD?” one terrified passenger can be heard crying. “Oh my God! Close the door!”
“Let me out! Let me out!” screamed another.
Police officers stormed the crime scene.
“People were becoming frantic,” one witness told ABC7. “People were praying, huddling on top of each other, hugging each other. trying to reassure one another that everything was going to be okay.”
“But it didn’t feel like that in the moment,” the witness added.
“It was like a stampede,” another witness said. “Everybody was rushing to get off the train, so, you know, it was a lot of pushing and shoving, commotion, yelling, crying.”
“It was crazy,” the witness recalled.
Police recovered the weapon, and the shooter was taken into custody. It is unclear at this point whether he will be charged, as he was arguably acting in self-defense.
The 36-year-old was rushed in critical condition to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
