After years of spewing venom against former President Donald Trump, including pushing the now-debunked “Russia collusion” hoax against Trump, Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff is now fuming over negative coverage of Joe Biden.
Schiff, 63, – who has been a member of U.S. Congress since 2001, is now running for U.S. Senate, hoping to lock in a 6-year term.
Schiff went on a rampage in the House Judiciary Committee hearing Tuesday, featuring former Special Counsel Robert Hur and his report about Biden’s mishandling of classified information.
In his 388-page report last month, Hur declared that Biden “willfully retained and disclosed classified materials after his vice presidency when he was a private citizen.” However, Hur did not recommend criminal charges against Biden in the case, describing him as a “well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory.”
On Tuesday, Hur said in his opening remarks, “There has been a lot of attention paid to language in the report about the President’s memory, so let me say a few words about that. My task was to determine whether the President retained or disclosed national defense information “willfully”—meaning, knowingly and with the intent to do something the law forbids. I could not make that determination without assessing the President’s state of mind.”
Schiff raged against Hur during Tuesday’s hearing, saying he “disparaged” the president… right as he was running for re-election.
“I want to refer back to your opening statement in which you said that you did not disparage the president in your report, but of course you did disparage the president. You disparaged him in terms you had to know would have a maximum political impact,” Schiff claimed, adding, “You understood the report would be public right?”
“You don’t gratuitously add language you know will be useful in a political campaign,” Schiff fumed at Hur. “You were not born yesterday! You understood exactly what you were doing. It was a choice. You certainly didn’t have to include that language.”
Robert Hur knew his report would be made public.
He knew his words would ignite a political firestorm.
He knew that gratuitously attacking the President would violate DOJ policy.

Later Tuesday evening, CNN’s Jake Tapper actually called out Schiff for attacking Hur.
“The basic argument you’re making is that by calling President Biden a sympathetic, well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory, which is how he thought he would come across to a jury, that that’s political. But what part of that construct is inaccurate? I mean, I assume you think he’s sympathetic and well-meaning. He’s 81 and his memory, you know, it doesn’t seem great. It’s not horrible, but I don’t understand the outrage,” Tapper scolded Schiff.
The Democrat congressman – who has made multiple false claims about Trump, whined that Hur’s remarks would “vilify” Biden’s reputation.
“Well it’s as simple as this,” Schiff declared. “As a prosecutor, the department policy is you don’t go out of your way to essentially vilify into the reputation of someone when you’re making a declination decision. When you put in your report that’s just what’s necessary to support the conclusions of the report. So, fair game to say he was asked about these documents and didn’t recall how they got to the university [University of Pennsylvania]. It is not appropriate to engage in a subjective, generalized, essentially political assessment that is foddered during a campaign year and he knew exactly what he was doing when he chose that language.”
Tapper wasn’t letting Schiff off the hook, arguing at one point, about Biden, “…you know, he does have issues here and there. ‘Was that 2017, was that 2016’… it’s not disqualifying but he does have some memory issues.”
Schiff, clearly still triggered, fretted, “Hur understood this report would be public, he knew—”
Tapper pointed out, “It would have been FOIA’d no matter what. It was gonna come out no matter what, right?”
“Well, more than that, he knew that Garland was gonna release it, and he knew—” Schiff continued, still panicked that Hur’s report was made public.
“Garland had a pledge he was gonna release it,” Tapper fired back.

Retired U.S. Army Col. James Hutton wrote, “Adam Schiff made up wholesale lies about Russia collusion in the Trump campaign and, now, he tries to lecture a special counsel about sanitizing and softening his report to ease the pain for Biden. What a sad figure. Californian’s take note — he’s not worth of your Senate seat.”

While Schiff is flipping out over everyone learning that Biden has a poor memory, just last week he pushed the suggestion on live television that the rules should be changed to prevent Trump from getting classified briefings.
“I have to hope and knowing the intelligence community as I do, that they will dumb down the briefing for Donald Trump. That is, they will give him no more information than absolutely necessary, nothing that would reveal sources or methods because we can’t trust that he will do the right thing with that information. He’s been so reckless. So yes, it does concern me. It is part of a long tradition. They will be wary of what they share with him, and they should,” Schiff wildly claimed.
Rep. Bryon Donald (R-Fla.) lambasted Schiff this week, saying, “Nobody should even be listening to ‘Shifty Schiff.’”
“Schiff lied about Russia collusion. He knew it was a lie & still went along. The House rightfully censured him. Now he has the gall to declare Trump should not receive full intel briefings. Presidential nominees MUST be properly briefed so they can step-in IMMEDIATELY on day 1,” Donalds declared.

When former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy won the Speaker’s seat in January 2023, he quickly booted Schiff off the House Intelligence Committee, where he had previously served as chair.
McCarthy kicked Schiff off the committee over his promotion of the now-debunked Steele Dossier, a salacious document funded by the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s campaign,
