A 76-year-old Florida man is accused of gunning down his wife and staging the crime to look like a burglary.
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to the Tamarac home on March 15 just before midnight, WTVJ reported. Once on scene, they found Janice Herbert, 53, dead from a gunshot wound.
Her husband, Rolland Powell, gave investigators inconsistent statements about the shooting, leading them to conclude that he shot Herbert and then staged the scene as a burglary gone wrong.
He was arrested on Friday and charged with first degree murder with a firearm. He’s being held without bond at the Broward County Jail.
