President Joe Biden just repeated a claim that has been confirmed to be a lie.Â
Biden did so on Thursday at the Greek Independence Day Reception that was held at the White House.
There, Biden delivered some remarks, which can be found in their entirety here.
But, it was during these remarks that Biden repeated the false claim that he has traveled some 17,000 miles around the world with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“I traveled 17,000 miles with him”
Biden’s remarks were supposed to be in honor of Greece. But, as usual, Biden had to find a way to throw himself in there, and, this time he even included the Chinese president – again, in a speech that was supposed to honor Greece.
Biden said, “I was once asked by Xi Jinping in — I traveled 17,000 miles with him in Tibet- — I was on the Tibetan Plateau. And he looked at me, and he said to me, ‘Can you define America?'”
He continued, “And, I could say the same thing if he asked me to define Greece. I said, ‘Yes, one word,’ — and I mean this sincerely; it’s reg- — it’s recorded. I said, ‘One word: possibilities.’ ‘Possibilities.'”
I’m sure that Jinping was knocked out of his chair by the sheer brilliance of Biden’s response – which, apparently, was recorded, meaning, of course, that it must be true.
We don’t know whether this exchange between Biden and Jinping actually took place. But, what we do know is that this 17,000-mile claim has been proven false.
“Bottomless Pinhocchios”
You may think that the claim that Biden is lying is a partisan one, but it is not. Actually, it is the left-wing Washington Post that has confirmed that Biden is lying about traveling 17,000 miles with Jinping.
The Post’s Glenn Kessler, in fact, has given Biden “bottomless Pinocchios” for continuing to repeat this claim despite the fact that it is false.
Fox News reports, “Kessler previously fact-checked Biden’s claim in February 2021, calling it ‘bogus,’ saying he could only confirm one instance in which Biden and Xi appeared to have traveled together when they visited Qingchengshan High School in Dujiangyan when he was vice president in August 2011.”
The outlet later adds, “the miles only add up to 5,600 at the most, Kessler reported,”
Biden, nonetheless, continues to repeat the lie. He has done so more than 20 times since he became the U.S. president. It is unlikely that he is going to stop now.
