Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was savaged by the left-wing media over remarks by his campaign that weren’t sufficiently deferential to the official January 6 narrative.
A fundraising email from “Team Kennedy” to supporters suggested that the protesters at the U.S. Capitol who were hunted down after the so-called “insurrection” were the victims of abuse by the government and have been “stripped of their Constitutional liberties,” an accurate depiction but one which is intolerable to the establishment.
“This is the reality that every American Citizen faces — from Ed Snowden, to Julian Assange to the J6 activists sitting in a Washington DC jail cell stripped of their Constitutional liberties. Please help our campaign call out the illiberal actions of our very own government,” read the email which was first reported by NBC News.
Kennedy, whose candidacy is striking fear into the hearts of Democrats who are terrified that he’ll pull votes from the deeply unpopular President Joe Biden, distanced himself from the email’s message after the media swarmed like sharks with blood in the water.

“January 6 is one of the most polarizing topics on the political landscape. I am listening to people of diverse viewpoints on it in order to make sense of the event and what followed. I want to hear every side,” he said in a statement.
“I have not examined the evidence in detail, but reasonable people, including Trump opponents, tell me there is little evidence of a true insurrection,” the statement read. “They observe that the protestors carried no weapons, had no plans or ability to seize the reins of government, and that Trump himself had urged them to protest ‘peacefully.’
“Like many reasonable Americans, I am concerned about the possibility that political objectives motivated the vigor of the prosecution of the J6 defendants, their long sentences, and their harsh treatment. That would fit a disturbing pattern of the weaponization of government agencies — the DoJ, the IRS, the SEC, the FBI, etc. — against political opponents,” Kennedy said, adding, “One can, as I do, oppose Donald Trump and all he stands for, and still be disturbed by the weaponization of government against him.”
Then, in the part guaranteed to bring the blood of Democrats to a boil, RFK Jr. vowed to appoint a truly independent special counsel to get to the bottom of whether the Biden regime has weaponized the government to persecute its political foes.
“As President, I will appoint a special counsel — an individual respected by all sides — to investigate whether prosecutorial discretion was abused for political ends in this case, and I will right any wrongs that we discover. Without the impartial rule of law, there is no true democracy or moral governance,” Kennedy pledged.
Prior to NBC News’ reporting of the campaign email, Kennedy had already whacked the hornet’s nest once this week when he schooled CNN’s Erin Burnett on who is the “worse threat to democracy” between Trump and Biden.

“Listen, I can make the argument that President Biden is a much worse threat to democracy, and the reason for that is President Biden is the first candidate in history, the first president in history that has used the federal agencies to censor political speech…to censor his opponent,” he told the stunned CNN anchor.
“Instead of demonizing our opponents as apocalyptic threats to democracy, let’s focus on the issues and priorities of how they will govern, and defeat them at the ballot box rather than through legal maneuvers and dirty tricks,” Kennedy said in his statement. “Maybe it is because the establishment parties differ very little on these key issues that they campaign on the demonization of their opponents and all who support them instead.”
Biden’s operatives are going after Kennedy with everything they’ve got, which is only going to intensify now that the No Labels group announced that it wouldn’t be putting up a third-party candidate this year.
