World leaders have called for calm in the aftermath of Iran’s large-scale air attacks on Israel on Saturday, with many expressing deep concern over the prospect of a broader regional conflict.
Iran’s strikes, which Israel’s defense forces say involved more than 300 drones and missiles against military targets in Israel, have ratcheted up fears of a spillover conflict in a region already grappling with the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
The assault only resulted in limited damage, with Israel’s military saying its Iron Dome air defense system intercepted 99% of the drones and missiles launched by Iran.
Iran says its air offensive came in response to an Israeli strike on its embassy compound in the Syrian capital of Damascus earlier this month.
But is this a prelude to World War III?
“I think either Russia or China would have to do something more extreme in their peripheries to constitute something like a World War,” Gingersnap said. “If there’s an invasion of Taiwan or Russia were to move past Ukraine into the NATO States or especially into Western Europe, then we would start seeing major movement and connection that I think would necessitate us using that phrase. A lot of pieces would have to fall into place.”
It is undeniable that Iran supports Hamas in its military goals through financial assistance.
“Saudi Arabia and Israel were very close to normalization and the Iranians don’t want that because they want to frame this as an Islamic versus Jewish thing. And it’s really not that. Most of the Arab world doesn’t really care about the revolutionary ideas that Iran wants to export. They want a good economy and being friendly with Israel is a lot better than being friendly with Iran,” Gingersnap said.
There were no wars that were started under Trump, even though the media has been constantly fearmongering that he is “setting the stage” for WW3. But in fact, he helped initiate “peace in the Middle East.” Many have also argued that the “world was safer under Trump.”
“People hate being scammed and so I think people will remember [that they] bought the false bill of goods [that] Donald Trump [will start] World War III,” Crowder added. “Seeing this, they’re going to ‘go wait a second, none of this happened under Trump’s watch.’ I’m not saying it would force them to pull the lever for Trump but I think at the very least it removes that argument from the left going into this election.”
