Walter Shaub, the former director of the Office of Government Ethics, hammered Hunter Biden over the coming sale of his artwork at prices real artists can only dream about. Shaub said that since those buying the paintings do not have to reveal themselves it is a perfect way to funnel money to the Biden family. Hunter has never sold a piece of art before in his life unless you want to count the velvet dogs playing poker picture he sold for a dollar at a yard sale.
The estimates for his paintings range from $75,000 to $500,000 depending on the size and the complexity of the painting.
Shaub told Fox News:
“The notion of a president’s son capitalizing on that relationship by selling art at obviously inflated prices and keeping the public in the dark about who’s funneling money to him has a shameful and grifty feel to it.”
“Hunter Biden’s grotesquely inflated art prices create” a risk of “influence-seekers funneling money to the Biden family.”
Shaub said that Hunter Biden’s art dealer, Georges Berges should disclose who buys each painting so that the American people can see who is trying to influence Joe Biden, through his son. I think that is unlikely to happen since art dealers are usually willing to withhold sale information if the buyer so asks. But, I do think that Shaub is onto something. During the Obama administration, several people in the administration were worried about Hunter Biden and his connection to his father.
“But I also think it’s ridiculous that Hunter Biden is even going forward with this sale as a first-time artist. He can’t possibly think anyone is paying him based on the quality of the art. This smells like an attempt to cash in on a family connection to the White House. At a minimum, the president should be asking his son not to go through with this auction.”
Last week, Shaub smacked the Biden administration for its ethics, saying that Biden was a “f***ing failure.”
Shaub made the remarks in response to a report from The Washington Post about how numerous top Biden aides have secured “coveted jobs” in the Biden administration for family members.
“I’m sorry, I know some folks don’t like hearing any criticism of him. But this royally sucks,” Shaub said. “I’m disgusted. A lot of us worked hard to tee him up to restore ethics to government and believed the promises. This is a a real ‘f— you’ to us—and government ethics.”
