A Florida sheriff’s “March Sadness” sting brought “shame” on the federal government after the operation further exposed the extent of the border crisis.
Polk County’s no-nonsense Sheriff Grady Judd held a press conference March 5 after the conclusion of an eight-day-long undercover operation to crack down on human trafficking. As he spoke to the 228 arrests made, the law enforcement official addressed claims from within the sex trafficking ring that the Department of Homeland Security was footing the bill for their operation to continue taking flights on the taxpayers’ dime.
“I’m sure the federal government’ll verify that this is not true, but you decide who you want to believe — whether you want to believe the victims of human trafficking or the whitewash the federal authorities give you,” he Judd said after explaining that 21 of the arrests made were of suspected believed to be illegal aliens from Chile, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela.
Highlighting one suspect said to have been responsible for transporting three women from New York City to Florida, all of whom were believed to be controlled by the same female human trafficker, the sheriff detailed, “They said that when they came into the country illegally, DHS gave them a form, an ID, paperwork that allows them to fly for free. You know, Southwest would let your bags fly free. Well, the federal government will let your illegal immigrants fly free.”

“They tell us that they fly to major metro centers for free on the federal government, where they set up their appointments for sex all around the country,” he reiterated. “Did you hear what I said?”
A press release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office detailing “Operation March Sadness 2024” that out of the nearly 230 arrests made, 150 suspects had been arrested for soliciting a prostitute. Another 8 were said to have been taking a cut from the prostitution or for transporting the prostitutes.
“Detectives charged a total of 70 felonies and 288 misdemeanors during the investigation,” the release detailed. “The suspects’ criminal histories included a combined total of 879 felonies and 1,150 misdemeanors.”
“This is a new record number of arrests during an investigation of this kind. More importantly, we identified 13 human trafficking victims: during two previous similar operations in February and October 2023, we identified 24 and 21 victims, respectively. That’s 58 victims we were able to identify in one year,” Judd said in his statement. “The valuable relationships that we have with the social services organizations who join us in these operations make it possible for these women to get help and be emancipated from this way of life.”
As he had emphasized at his press conference, “‘Federal Policy Drives Illegal Immigrant Crime And Victimization,’ and that’s the focus, other than our victims of human trafficking.”
“We have a crisis at the border. And because of the crisis at the border, we have people that are victimizing illegal folks, forcing them into the sex trade because we allow these criminals in the country illegally,” the sheriff decried.
Judd’s presser was not without a shot at the failure of President Joe Biden’s administration to address the border crisis as yet another death, a boy in St. Louis, Missouri, was attributed to the presence of illegal aliens in the country.
While the president had shifted blame to Republicans for treating the Senate border bill as dead on arrival for permitting nearly 2 million foreign nationals to enter the country illegally per year, the sheriff highlighted the daily cap at 5,000 and criticized, “If you can shut it off at 5,000 people illegally coming in this country a day, you can shut if off at no people illegally coming in this country a day. But the politicians are politicking while the victims are being victimized.”
“Shame on all of them — every one of them — for not gettin’ together and saying you know ‘there are things bigger in this country than my individual politics,’” he slammed as he was celebrated for his candor and others questioned the government’s actions.
Grady Judd is a national treasure.
