After eliminating most all of former President Donald Trump’s border measures and allowing over 8 million illegal aliens to cross the border into the United States, Joe Biden now claims he’s considering an executive order to shut down the border by the end of April.
Below is an excerpt from Axios:
President Biden used an interview with Spanish-language broadcaster Univision that aired Tuesday to send a massive signal that he plans to issue an executive order to dramatically limit the number of asylum-seekers who can cross the southern border.
Axios is told that while it’s not final, such an executive order is likely by the end of April. We’re told there’s a fierce debate internally about the legality and politics of a Trump-like lockdown. But Biden, briefed on polls of rising voter anger, wants a dramatic step.
Between the lines: The provision Biden is eyeing would restrict the ability of immigrants to claim asylum, and doesn’t require congressional approval, Axios reported in February.
Biden would use authority in Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, which gives the president broad leeway to block entry of certain immigrants if it would be “detrimental” to U.S. national interests.
Biden was asked by Univision’s Enrique Acevedo in the interview which aired Tuesday night whether he was considering an executive order on the Border.
“Well, it’s suggested that… we’re examining whether or not I have that power,” Biden responded. “I would have that power under the legislation when – when the border has over five, 500,000 people… 5,000 people a day trying to cross the border because you can’t manage it, slow it up. There’s no — there’s no guarantee that I have that power all by myself without legislation. And some have suggested I should just go ahead and try it. And if I get shut down by the court, I get shut down by the court. But we’re trying to work that work through that right now.”

Biden then claimed that the first piece of legislation he introduced as president was related to the border… “I wanted to make sure that dreamers had a path to citizenship all the way to providing for enough border security people to orderly handle the border to allow legal immigration and prevent illegal immigration,” he claimed.
He claimed there just aren’t enough border patrol agents to interview people to see if they have a legitimate asylum claim.
President Biden: Trump found out that I liked the border deal so he called Republicans and said, ‘don’t be for it, it’ll benefit Biden.’ When the hell would you vote on a major piece of legislation based on whether you benefit somebody that’s in politics?
