Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-GA) fight against the status quo came to an ultimatum impacting House Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-LA) tenure in leadership.
“The American people agree with me…they are outraged.”

Changing course from the messy leadership contest that ousted former California Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R) in favor of Johnson, members of Congress seeking a speaker unswayed by establishment standards now have a peaceful transition in mind.
During a conversation with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures,” Greene advance her call for Johnson to resign, but warned, “If he doesn’t do so, he will be vacated.”
“You’re getting criticized on the left, on the right, in the media…a lot of people are criticizing you,” expressed the host who recapped that the speaker’s prioritization of roughly $95 billion in foreign aid, nearly $61 billion of which went to Ukraine, over advancing border security.
With Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie (R) and Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar (R) in support of the measure, the host continued, “And the reason that they are is because they’re saying that you’re creating drama during this election year. How is this leading to re-electing President Trump? How is this leading to the American people believing that the Republicans can govern? People are saying, ‘Look, she’s creating chaos. She’s making the entire party look like it’s disrupted.’ Your reaction and response to those criticisms?”
“Those that are calling this drama are the very people that are responsible for the drama that the American people are having to live through every single day,” responded Greene.
“Those on the left, those on the right, the uniparty that’s in control of our government are the ones that have inflicted the American people with nearly $35 trillion in debt, ripped our border wide open, and refused — Speaker Johnson refuses to use his power as speaker of the House to do any type of negotiating to secure the southern border and stop the madness in our country,” she continued before asserting, “The American people agree with me…they are outraged.”
Her Sunday remarks followed her own expressed outrage from the steps outside the U.S. Capitol Saturday where she ticked off the ways in which Johnson had “betrayed America” that included: omnibus bills, reauthorization of FISA, the latest use of taxpayer dollars for foreign nations and the lack of meaningful action on the border.

Pushed to present her alternative to the current speaker, Greene contended, “Our plan is this: We have to give the American people a reason to trust us and fight for us. The American people are supporting President Trump to be the next president of the United States because…they’ve seen him in action. He fought against the Democrat agenda. He put America first. They desperately want him to lead this country again because they trust him and they know he will do that.”
“Mike Johnson has betrayed America. He’s betrayed Republican voters,” she reiterated. “Under his leadership, he’s passed the Democrat agenda, passed the Biden administration’s policies, and fully funded them. We’re going to fight in Congress to do everything we can to stop this type of uniparty leadership. Mike Johnson’s speakership is over. He needs to do the right thing to resign and allow us to move forward in a controlled process. If he doesn’t do so, he will be vacated.”
Unsatisfied with the congresswoman’s response, Bartiromo said, “With all due respect, you didn’t give me a plan for the speaker’s role. And again, does this mean you are going to file that motion at some point?”
“It’s coming regardless of what Mike Johnson decides to do, and we have three more Republicans joining us from special elections coming up very soon,” stated Greene, reminding that the majority margin could soon get some cushion. “So people need to know, this can happen.”
