SEATTLE, WA – In a deadly vehicular accident in a Seattle suburb, an 18-year-old was arrested and charged for allegedly causing the four-car collision that led to the death of a woman and three children inside her van.
The suspect, Chase Daniel Jones, was taken into custody on Friday and is being held on a $1 million bail, according to King County Correctional Facility records. An attorney representing Jones could not be identified immediately from the jail records and his case had not made an appearance in the online King County court records until Saturday.
The victims of the Tuesday crash in Renton were confirmed as Andrea Smith Hudson, 38, and three children– Matilda Wilcoxson, 13, and Eloise Wilcoxson and Boyd B. Brown, both 12– as per the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The abrupt collision resulted in additional injuries, resulting in four individuals being taken to the hospital. Two of these victims were Hudson’s children who were also in the van at the time of the accident; they remained in the hospital as of Saturday.
Officials reported that Jones was also injured in the crash and was guarded in the hospital until his subsequent discharge and arrest. Beyond his charges for four counts of vehicular homicide, Jones additionally faces two counts of vehicular assault and one count of reckless driving.
