Left-wing activists try to physically stop anti-critical race theory meeting

An event educating people on how to fight the implementation of critical race theory in Minnesota schools recently resulted in left-wing activists attempting to stop the event and one woman being detained by police.

The Center of the American Experiment’s “Raise Our Standards” tour has made stops in nine cities, each event attracting over one hundred people. The tour’s purpose is to educate attendees about critical race theory, which they call a “leftist, anti-America agenda,” and how to “push back against the politicization of our schools.”

The tour stopped in Moorhead Tuesday night and turned out a “group of extremists,” John Hinderaker, president of the American Experiment, wrote on Powerline blog.

The activist group attempted to stop the meeting and physically take over, which resulted in police being called to the scene and detaining one woman who “scuffled” with a man attending the event.

The woman, 35-year-old Vanessa Clark, was cited for disorderly conduct and released at the scene. She later said she was “arrested for ripping off an All Lives Matter button,” the Fargo Forum and KVRR reported.

The Raise Our Standards tour is seeing backlash from venues refusing to host the tour.

A stop in Duluth was canceled when the Northland Country Club refused to host the event. A Holiday Inn in the area then said the American Experiment could use their space before canceling that same day, “presumedly after pressure from the NAACP and others,” the American Experiment wrote.

The Duluth chapter of the NAACP posted a video on Facebook calling the tour “nothing other than an act of hate speech,” “overt racism,” and “white supremacy,” seemingly urging the venues to deny the tour access to their spaces.

“We will not be deterred by these childish tactics,” reads a press release from the American Experiment.

The group plans to reschedule the Duluth stop of the event whenever they can “find a venue with the courage to host it in the face of hostility from a tiny minority,” Hinderaker wrote.
