The Issue: French President Emmanuel Macron‘s reaction to President Biden’s first G-7 summit.
So glad to hear French President Emmanuel Macron is happy with Joe Biden being part of “the club.” Why wouldn’t he be (“French kiss for Joe,” June 13)?
Biden’s main concern is everything but the United States. “Build back better for the world”? Are you kidding?
Our country is falling apart around us, and the president is worried about other countries. Come home, Joe, before all these “allies” of ours take your lunch money. Time to help America first.
The Europeans are climbing all over themselves with happiness.
The cruel, nasty President Donald Trump has been replaced with the bumbling, clueless Biden. Happy times are back again — or so they think.
The same character faults, weakness, poor values and growing senility that allow the Europeans to so easily manipulate this president are the same factors that will allow the Russians, Chinese and Iranians to spread their influence throughout the world.
When that happens, and it won’t be long now, the Europeans will wish that Trump were still president.
The G-7 is a start toward the United States regaining a positive leadership role in world affairs.
With the commitment to distributing the COVID-19 vaccine to poor countries along with the creation of an investment program to challenge China’s Belt and Road Initiative, the United States and its allies are focused on soft power.
This will be a concern for Beijing, which has been using soft power to extend its global influence. It now has some competition.
At the G-7, the president of France said, “It’s great to have a US president part of the club and very willing to cooperate.”
Hand-puppet Joe is giving away US sovereignty to the European Union just to be in “the club.”
Trump owned and ran the club by putting America first and having the EU follow the leader. Just like President Barack Obama, Joe is leading from behind.
The members of G-7 eagerly embraced Biden and are happy to deal with him. Of course they are. They recognize an open wallet when they see one.
They recognize someone who is so anxious to be liked he will agree with anything they propose, no matter how harmful to the country. He is a global ATM.
The Issue: A Columbia student who compared the suppression of speech at her university to North Korea.
It is embarrassing that our universities are blocking free speech (“It’s Like I’m Back in NoKo!” June 15).
It is even more embarrassing that a defector from North Korea, one of the most oppressive countries in the world, escaped to the United States to find our universities are like this.
The federal government should stop supporting these colleges.
We will stop producing smart, talented problem-solvers with this education system. The leaders of tomorrow will not learn to solve the problems of our economic systems if we suppress free speech.
Yeonmi Park: Welcome to Columbia University.
Like many other universities, it takes advantage of its antitrust exemption to jack up prices.
You will be put deep into debt while being taught to hate the very society you live in.
