The Secret Service agents tasked with guarding Hunter Biden at his Malibu estate spent over $4.5 million of taxpayer dollars in a single year, all while maintaining a constant vigil.
Newly discovered papers show that between 2021 and 2022, a government credit card used almost $2.8 million for purchases and $1.12 million for various costs, including hotel rooms.
By using a Freedom of Information Act request, DailyMail.com was able to receive the list of financial transactions.
Some Expenses
Included in the expenses were the rental cars used by the agents monitoring the president’s son during his stay at a $20,000-a-month house cost $632,071, according to the report.
Next door to Hunter’s house, where he lived with his wife Melissa Cohen and son Beau, were the presidential bodyguards who were shelling out $30,000 a month for rent.
With six bedrooms, a pool, a tasting room, a gym, a spa, an in-built BBQ, and a “castle-like tower,” this seaside villa was designed in the Spanish style and worth roughly six million dollars.
It took the Secret Service about two years to provide Dailymail.com with the requested records, according to the publication.
Other Hunter Biden News
Throughout that time, the news has been primarily focused on Hunter’s legal issues, without public accountability for the expenses of the younger Biden.
A federal tax indictment is pending against him, and on Friday, a court rejected an effort to dismiss allegations that he falsified information regarding his drug addiction in order to purchase a firearm—an affair in which the Secret Service was embroiled.
The data spans sixteen months, beginning in February 2021 and ending in June 2022.
The totals listed did not include the salaries of the agents, which are also paid for by taxpayers, the total expenditure within that period was $4,596,747.
More Receipt Items
Redacted receipts from Home Depot, Best Buy, Staples, and Amazon were among the things included in the records.
A New York video and camera company had two orders: one for $1,930 and another for $1,658.43.
Agents used a New York store while Hunter Biden was under protection on the West Coast, however, the reason for this is unclear.
“Exterior materials” was the label on one of the camera store orders that the agents were claiming. Home Depot in Venice, California, cost $145, and an Amazon Hub locker in a Ross Dress For Less bargain apparel store in the same city, cost $40.
Just outside of Washington, D.C., at Reagan National Airport, there was another claim for $132 for five hours of parking.
