Ebony Parker, a former elementary school assistant principal in Virginia, has been indicted in a case in which a six-year-old student shot his teacher.
A special grand jury in Newport News, Virginia, has charged Parker with eight counts of child abuse, according to records unsealed on April 9.
On March 11, Parker was charged with child abuse and reckless disregard for human life.
The charges come about 15 months after a first-grader at Richneck Elementary School brought a gun to class and shot his teacher, Abby Zwerner, in January of 2023.
Zwerner has a $40,000,000 lawsuit alleging that Parker ignored several warnings that the boy had brought a gun to school that day.
A judge ruled in November of 2023 that Zwerner can move forward with the case.
Zwener was hospitalized for nearly two weeks and went through multiple surgeries after the bullet hit her hand and chest.
