Wise County, TX. – A manhunt is underway in Wise County, Texas, for a suspect who shot a police officer during a traffic stop.
Authorities are searching for 43-year-old Royce Edward Wood, whom they say shot a Rhome Police Department officer during a traffic stop on Sunday night.
The incident occurred near Rhome after an officer conducted a traffic stop of two people on a motorcycle. The motorcycle pulled over and the suspect, identified as Wood, opened fire on the officer. The officer was struck in the leg. The suspect ran from the scene and is now a subject of a manhunt. The second rider, a female, was taken into custody and later released.
The unidentified officer was transported to a local hospital and is expected to be ok.
The suspect, Royce Edward Wood, is a male white, 6’2″ tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He has a shaved head, wears a beard, and was last seen wearing a baseball hat, camouflage bandana, green shirt, a vest, shorts and black sunglasses.
